STREETS OF MANBERG.
QUACKITY, KARL, ERET, phil, tommy, tubbo, and ranboo stood around y/n—karl behind them while y/n stood between eret and quackity—as people hastily piled the streets.
you saw some people desperately climbing nearby trees and telephone poles, or going on balconies and rooftops to get a better view of what was ahead. the public execution.
overnight, guards expectedly set up two guillotines next to each other while hotels and shops got their doors ready for clients to come in and rent out sight-seeing rooms to get a better view of the execution [this is a real thing that people did btw in medieval times and onwards when execution by guillotines was a thing. had to do some research ofc].
overall, the atmosphere felt so unnatural to you. public executions were common and were done in your kingdom as well. pops even told stories of watching them with his father. you never really had an interest in it though. why do you need to spend time and money on watching an execution when you could see in the newspapers who was bound to die?
people were dancing, cheering, and even booing. there was so many emotions mixed in the air, it was hard to contemplate what was happening if a passerby simply heard the crowds of people.
after a few staggering moments, the guards went to unlock the gates of the elite hotel where wilbur and king were staying overnight. that's when the crowds became at its loudest upon seeing the two criminals handcuffed, and being escorted to their guillotines.
when you looked around, you could've sworn your eyes caught a couple of journalists and sketch artists eagerly moving their pencils within notepads or sketchbooks as their eyes watched the scene unfold with fascination. this was something bound to go in the history books after all, writing and illustrations combined.
you watched with an anxious feeling bubbling in your stomach as the guards made wilbur and king lay on their stomachs on the guillotine's board while their necks were being closed in and restrained, an angled blade sitting just above their heads. you couldn't even fathom what it was like to be in their positions right now.
wilbur brought his head up, his eyes scanning the crowds of people. his gaze eventually landed on king who was also being restrained under the guillotine next to him. king felt a pair of eyes next to him and looked over, meeting wilbur's eyes.
