Three weeks had passed since Midoriya revealed to Kendo about All Might training him. In some ways, she wasn't surprised that his quirk, given how similar it was to the symbol of peace, required some extra assistance. She couldn't help but feel a little jealous.
They had gone out two more times and kissed on each one. So far, they had managed to keep their relationship hidden from their peers but nevertheless they practiced constant alertness. That didn't get in the way of them growing closer though.
But the nightmares kept haunting him every night, worrying Kendo and All Might significantly.
As Midoriya sat in the cafeteria during lunch, he couldn't help but feel lonely despite being surrounded by his friends. On this day, Uraraka was with him along with Akane.
"Midoriya, you've been pretty quiet lately, is everything alright?" Uraraka asked.
"Yeah I'm fine. I've just been thinking about the upcoming assessment. I wonder what we'll be doing?"
"Umm..... I actually know. I overheard the teachers talking about it recently," Akane said quietly.
"Really?!" They both said in unison.
"Yeah I heard its called jail break. I think teams can capture enemy players and take them to a cage. However the prisoners can be rescued by any means of their teammates. They just can't break themselves out."
"That kind of makes sense," Uraraka said.
"Do you know if we'll really be fighting the other class?" Midoriya asked.
"Yes."
He became very quiet. Usually he would be muttering various thoughts but this time, silence came to his head.
No, he couldn't fight Kendo.
He loved her too much to do that and she probably would feel the same.
"Excuse me but I need Akane, Uraraka and Midoriya to come with me," Mr. Aizawa suddenly said from behind.
"Y-yes is something wrong?" Midoriya asked.
"No, its just has to do with Eri and Mirio."
"Mirio?" He thought.
******
Eri seemed to have had a slight growth spurt but she was still a little girl. She beamed when she saw his face.
"Deku!" She said as she came over to hug him.
"Hi there, how have you been Eri?"
"It's great! I read a whole book by myself several days ago!"
"That's amazing to hear; you'll have to tell me all about it!" Deku replied.
"First things first though. Eri, this is Akane, the one who we think can help you with your quirk."
Deku looked up from her and at all three of them. To say that he was caught off guard would be an understatement.
"How?"
"My quirk is complicated to fully explain," Akane replied to him.
"Basically she can analyze any quirk that exists in someone else and determine every possible detail about it including how it works and its triggers," Mr Aizawa commented.
"So we could then train Eri on how to control her quirk." Deku realized.
"Correct. But there is more to it than just analysis."
"What do you mean?"
"Hey everyone sorry I'm late!" Mirio said as he entered the room.
"Hey Mirio, nice to see you again," Deku replied.
"Akane, if you may," Mr. Aizawa continued.
"Am I just looking for details," she asked.
"For the moment. Eri, you can trust her to help you."
"Deku, what is she going to do?"
Akane crouched down to Eri's height and placed her right hand on Eri's left shoulder.
"It's alright Eri. I just need you to relax and let your mind go blank. And don't resist anything."
"Okay, should I close my eyes?"
"That might help you."
The little girl closed her eyes as if she were about to fall asleep. Akane took a deep breath. A bright green glow began to be emitted where they touched. In an instant, Eri raised her head slightly and opened her mouth and eyes with brilliant streams of light shooting straight outwards. Her hair flowed as if there was wind as a loud rumble bellowed out.
Then, everything returned to normal. The lights were gone and there was absolute silence. The young child opened her eyes again.
Uraraka and Deku's mouths were hanging wide open.
"What was that?!" Mirio asked.
"That's my quirk when used."
"What did you find?" Mr. Aizawa asked.
"She can't fully control her quirk because she doesn't have all the needed nerves to do so."
"Wait but how......" Deku wondered.
"I see, is there anything that you can do to fix that?" Mr. Aizawa asked.
"Fix it? You mean change her quirk?!" Mirio and Deku said at the same time.
"I'm not sure if you can ex-"
"My quirk is called Forge. It enables me to manipulate or create new quirks inside others but not myself."
"Akane!" Mr. Aizawa grunted "You shouldn't be talking about that part."
"Its not classified sir. Besides I'm certain that they won't share this with anyone else."
"Will you?" Mr. Aizawa asked everyone sternly.
"Nope not a peep," Mirio replied.
"Create new quirks? How does that even work?" Deku pondered silently. "What if the league of villains got their hands on her?"
"Uhm.....could you tell me what nerves are?" Eri asked.
"Oh right, nerves are essentially what enable us to actually do what we want. In your case, your quirk requires too many nerves to control it. But Akane can change that?" Mirio asked.
"Correct."
"Wait Mirio, do you realize what this means? You could get a new quirk to replace your lost one. You can be Lemillion again!" Deku said excitedly.
"Yes she could but," Mr. Aizawa started "she has to be allowed to do that but she doesn't have permission from the law to use that part of her quirk."
"She doesn't have a license to use quirk?" Uraraka asked.
"No, my quirk is so capable that the government is afraid of potential villains gaining new quirks. So they have attached a device on me that prevents me from creating new quirks unless they allow it. I'm sorry Mirio but I can't do it."
"You know what, I think I'll be fine quirkless."
Deku was speechless.
"Back to Eri, could you modify her quirk so that she can more easily control it?" Mr. Aizawa asked.
"Only if she wants to," Akane replied.
"Can I Uncle Aizawa? Can I?" She eagerly asked while jumping up and down.
"Of course Eri, just trust Akane."
Before Deku could fully process everything, Eri was changed forever.
"So how do you feel now Eri," Mirio asked.
She just ran over and hugged him; there was a bright flash of light from her horn. The light enveloped him completely.
Mr. Aizawa quickly used his quirk to stop her.
"Eri calm down."
"Sorry Uncle I suddenly thought I could help him." She replied.
"Help him?" Deku asked.
"Uh guys, where did you all go?"
They started looking around the room for Mirio. His face suddenly popped up from the floor.
"Whoops sorry about that. I guess I wasn't expecting to fall right through."
"Akane, what did you do?" Mr. Aizawa asked.
"I did as you said! She now has full control of her quirk."
"Wait, Eri's quirk is meant to reset....." Uraraka said.
"And I was originally born with a quirk....."
"So Eri reset Mirio to his original quirk!" Deku shouted in excitement.
