Lan YongMing smiled when he saw his mother but immediately frowned at the crib in the room. When introduced to their little sister, Wei Ying took note of the boys' reaction.

While Xing treated the newest addition like an alien, Lan Xiang was mesmerized. It was love at first sight when he felt the baby's cheek. That unbridled show of acceptance would turn Wangji's quiet boy into a talkative for days. "She's so cute...and she smells so nice...What's her name?", Lan Xiang smiled from ear to ear, rubbing those tiny fingers.

"Lan Xing, won't you come to say hello?", Wei Ying gave his first radish some attention.

"Mother, it was a long trip and I'm sweaty. Can I take a bath first?"

"...Sure...", Wei Ying nodded although he thought the boy looked rather clean. Then again these two would have all the time in the world to play with their sister so he let it be.

That was months ago...

Xing made no effort to bond with the new angel of the house. He would rather lock himself in his room and read his father's depressing textbooks or hide in the woods.

Wei Ying would have loved to see Lan Xing hold his sister or ask to keep her company but the young man avoided it. Lan Xiang, like his father, did not give the baby breathing space.

Gifts came flooding in from all angles, family and friends trooped in just to see the girl and shower her with blessings and more treasures. For many generations, the Lan Clan leader's home had been missing the laughter of a female child. So all eyes were on this one.

Lan Qiren sent more than a dozen female cultivators from the Clan, saying the little princess must be brought up perfectly. Wei Ying dare not pitch in that their girl was just three months old and won't need tutors until she is five or six.

MingXia did not give his parents a hard time as a baby, and as a toddler, she looked at life with an ever-glow. She had everyone wrapped around her finger- well everyone except the person she wanted to play with the most. And that was her elder brother, Xing. Even at that young age, the little miss could tell the twins apart. It bugged her that no amount of giggles, goofy smiles, or crying could win her Xing's heart. The boy would just stare at her with a blank face and say, "Annoying..." then disappear in seconds.
