"Congratulations!" The crowd burst into great cheer.

The hall was full of loved ones, but the only one Xing could see was his old man standing tall beside his beloved mother, with that annoying blank face. A lot runs through his mind. Xing could put up a show and act like he was not mighty pissed about this or act how he truly feels about the surprise.

Second Young Master Lan chose the latter option. Just one more look and Hanguangjun and he makes a one-eighty-degree turn toward the stairs.

"YongMing," Yuelian tails behind him.

"I thought I could trust Uncle Cheng, how wrong I was," Xing grumbled as he stomped like an angry troll. The lady of the pier holds him by the hand yet he shakes her off- twice.

"YongMing, wait, this wasn't my father's doing. I arranged this."

Lan Xing halted at that confession. "You did this?" He turns to his cousin with a pained look in his eyes. "You think because I took shelter here for a few days, you know me so well to pull this stupid game on me. What were you hoping to achieve? Some kind of thanks, revenge for that dumb hairpin?" YongMing did not lower his voice and it shook Yuelian like thunder.

"No," Yuelian lowered her eyes with a sulk in a breath. "You always talked about how spectacular your coming-of-age party would be. I just wanted to cheer you up... I'm sorry," her words became muddled with despair.

Lan Xing briefly massaged the point between his brow, giving his forehead some knocks in the process for being so mean. His fight was not against his cousin and he should have better control over his anger. "Jie," he walked up to Yuelian and lifted her chin. "I didn't mean to be...I wasn't expecting any of this," he tried to make amends.

Wei Ying suddenly catches up to the two and sure enough, Lan Wangji follows. "A'Xing," Wei Ying snatched his son out of nowhere, suffocating him with a hug. "When did you become so tall? What were you thinking, are you trying to kill me the second time?"

"Mother I...I can't...breathe," Xing was crushed by that grip but readily looks at Wei Ying with a wistful smile. The second his father's frame comes into view that vanished and he became hostile. "What do you want?" He said.

"A'Xing, your father has been looking all over for you," said Wei Ying.

"So what if he searched for me in a few places? It's probably so he could enforce his punishments."

"No, that's far from it," Wei Ying shook his head.

"Have you forgotten what he said? I am a mannerless, uncultured and hot-tempered individual. I can not be his son; he is not my father!" Xing said with disdain.

Wei Ying was dead speechless and could not imagine how Lan Wangji would take it. "Lan Zhan, he's only saying this out of anger," Wei Ying prompted his partner. Lan Wangji merely lowered his eyes briefly and nodded.

"Yeah, keep believing that. I'm leaving. My day was going perfectly well till you decided to ruin it with...mmmf!" Xing's mouth was suddenly glued tight. He glares in Wangji's spotless direction, then at his mother with knitted brows.

"Lan Zhan, undo the silencing spell," Wei Ying felt this was a bad way to prove he was not a tyrant. Teenagers act out sometimes. He has to listen to their son, even if it's hard to digest some of his words. Xing began to boil ferociously and his mother sensed something unhealthy in his aura. Lan Wangji was ever happy to give him the stoic face and say, "No."

Lan Xing huffs and grumbles and groans, clenching his fist into a ball. His body shook like he was about to explode and no one could convince him that Wangji was here to patch their relationship. When everyone least expected it, a strong black beam sweeps toward Lan Wangji. Wei Ying fails to counter that attack but Wangji is sharp at dispersing the negative energy with his zither. Xing is aware by now of what his mother is capable of. He gives Wei Ying a wonderful surprise by casting a restriction spell and locking him in a spirit circle. Xing was openly telling him not to interfere.
