When Lan Wangji told his spouse they had to go to Yunmeng, the other presumed it was another vacation. The jade had been touring many cities with his husband, going night hunting, solving cases and making laughable memories. All of that with their last bundle of joy strapped to their chest.

Unlike Sizhui or YongMing, Yulong didn't give a hoot about fierce corpses. They discovered this when one day while creating one of many gadgets for catching ghosts and fierce corpses, Wei Ying accidentally set a ghost loose in the estate.

Lan Wangji was immediately alerted about this and they took some of the Gusu disciples present to search for it. After some time, they traced it to the children's quarters. Entering the compound they could hear maidens shrieking.

Wei Ying was already a ball of nerves breaking into the scene but then he sees his two-year-old standing in front of two of his nannies, glaring down at a level five ghost. Each time the creature growled, Wei Tian growled back. The boy's robes were fortified against such encounters but seeing how he faced the danger to protect the women marvelled Wei Ying.

Wei Ying did get the scolding of his life from Lan Wangji that day. But after several other instances where their boy laughed at fierce corpses for having crooked limbs, Wei Ying was unsure whether to be creeped out or worried. Eventually, they accepted it and explored the idea.

Yunmeng

Lan Wangji and his family were always welcome at the Lotus pier. They washed down, settled in, and then met with Clan Leader Jiang and his significant other. Lan Xichen had gotten used to wearing Yunmeng Jiang robes but Wangji hadn't. Wei Ying would not stop babbling about how handsome he would also look in purple robes.

"If you want me to wear the robes of another clan, I am open to putting on what your father would wear," Wangji slowly sips his tea.

"I'll have you know that my father wore Yunmengjiang robes most of the time," Wei Ying argued.

Jiang Cheng didn't take a second to betray him, "Stop lying, this is exactly how your father dressed, and you said so yourself when we were children."

"Butt out of this Wanyin!" Wei Ying scowled. That made Jiang Cheng laugh. "So, is this another family visit or is there a problem?"

"It's a family visit. Jiang Cheng, I have a request of you," Lan Wangji added.

"Huh...Lan Zhan, what request do you have for him?" Wei Ying scratched behind his ears, a bit muddy about Wangji not mentioning this to him earlier. For some weird reason, Lan Wangji does not look at him as he addressed Jiang Cheng.

Lan Wangji, "I want Yulong to become your disciple." The cat was let out of the bag.

Wei Ying, "Wh... Lan Zhan, were you seriously not going to tell me about this?"

Lan Wangji, "Wei Ying, we already discussed this. Yulong is a Wei, it's only fair we let him grow as one."

Wei Ying, "What are you talking about?"

Lan Wangji, "You were a Yunmengjiang disciple, so, he will also be a Yunmengjiang disciple."

Lan Xichen sensed a couple's quarrel coming by the way Wei Ying frowned at his brother. "Wanyin, perhaps we should give them some privacy to discuss this."

"Pfft, hell no, I'm staying right here to see how this goes. It's been months since I got some top tier drama," Jiang Cheng cheerfully pours himself a cup and enjoys the show...

Later that evening...

Jiang Cheng came out of the bathtub, strapped a towel to his waist and walked behind the cardboard into the bedroom. Lan Xichen was sitting on the bed, fitted in his night robes. He lights up some fragrant incense while the other dries his locks with a towel.
