Ella comes downstairs and waits for me. I come out with my hand bag. "Ready?" I ask. Ella smiles "yeah". I give Doug a kiss and some money for him and Cole to order dinner. "I love you."
He hands the money back to me "keep it, but i love you too, from the moon to neptune and back"
I smile as Ella and i leave. We go to a burger joint and get a burger, fries and milkshake each.
"thank you mom for all of this"
"of course sweetheart, maybe after this we can go to the arcade."
Ella smiles and nods.

"nervous lover boy? but yeah i'll go out with you, just let me know when and what time"
When she says yes my nerves ease "how about friday 5pm we could go mini golfing or do whatever it is you like doing."
"fridays are skating days, you wanna go skating?"

"What other things do you like doing?"
"umm playing video games, sleeping for sure and that's it i think"

"exactlyyyy thank god someone how understands me like jeez all the people i hang out with just want to go out all the time like i just want to chill at home cuddle up with someone and watch some some netflix and fall asleep" She responds.
I smile "im capable of doing those things with you."
She smirks "oh? someone's getting bold, but i like it. Maybe we can hang out on the weekend".
I laugh "Sure. What do you like watching on netflix?"
"honestly i'm up to anything".
"Yeah me too".

I smile "Okay." I look up when dad hands me my pizza.
"how's it going?" Dad mouths to me as he eats a slice.
I give him a thumbs up. "So what will i need for skating?"
"$20 that's really it, don't wear something you like cause your gonna sweat".
Dad smiles proudly "that's my boy" he mouths again, pats me him on the shoulder and walks back to the living room.
I laugh, "Okay, Aub."
Aubrey smiles at the nickname "okay lover boy i got to go i'll see you at school?"

"Bye," I hang up and run downstairs with my pizza, so excited.
"i told you to go for it" Dad says.
"We're gonna go skating on friday, i have no idea how to skate but im gonna do it, and she called me lover boy and she told me i was bold." I say fast not taking a breath.
"okay cole calm down buddy, take a deep breath" Dad says smiling.
"and and she just wants to cuddle up with someone and netflix and chill. and she likes sleeping, i like sleeping, i LOVVVE sleeping."
"buddy buddy, i know you LOVVVE sleeping but you have take a breath before you pass out from lack of oxygen".
I suck in some air almost hyperventilating. "she's gonna be the death of me."
"oh? okay".
"my headstone will say Cole Emhoff, cause of death Aubrey Nevaeh Mihaels."
"oh my god" dad whispers "alright let's eat okay? but i said the same thing about Kamala".
"sorry" I start eating.

"and you're hanging out after skating too?"

"where to now sweetie?" Mom asks.
"Well i have money on me do you want to go to the mall and maybe can get jellyfish something"
Mom smiles and nods "sure sweetheart." She holds my hand as we walk to the car.
I smile and get in the car grabbing my wallet.
Mom drives to the mall and we walk in together. "
"which store should i get something for them in?"
Mom points to a baby store "lets check this one out first."
"okay" I say.
We walk in and Mom gets teary eyed.
" Mom what's wrong?"
"look at all this stuff aww its so adorable."
"that's true but don't cry".
She wipes away her tears "sorry" she laughs embarrassed as we start walking around.
i laugh a little "it's okay".
"What do you want to look at first?"
"maybe clothes"
"Okay." She says as we go to the clothing section.
"i don't know which one to pick" I say.
"well something gender neutral but which ones do you like?" Mom asks.
