"C'mon, Freddie, let's do something to cheer you up!" she immediately piped up, after spending the past ten minutes cuddling with him on the sofa.

If it had been in any other circumstance, Lilith would have probably hashed over whether to stay with him or not was the wisest choice to keep that emotional distance she was trying to keep with him, but, seeing him so vulnerable made her push all of her intrusive thoughts away and let herself be guided by the moment.

Fred sat up straight, using the sleeves of his jumper to wipe off his tears. His eyes were slightly reddish and his nose seemed to be runny, but he still managed to reply to her with a little smile.

"I don't wanna lose the bet, though," he pointed out, making her snort.

"Not that, you wanker," she scoffed, looking at him straight in the eye while playing with her nails and the rings in her fingers, including her wedding one, "I actually had a little surprise to you."

Fred blinked, quite caught by surprise.

"What is it?"

"I invited Lee Jordan over," she murmured, a bit hesitant, waiting for his response, "I thought you would like to hang out with one of your friends after expending so much time with mine."

Another smile formed on his lips at those words and seeing how the sunny warm light covered her in front of his eyes, once again, Fred couldn't help but admire Lilith. She had her curls free — Merlin, he absolutely adored to see her with her hair down framing her face — her eyes reflected a golden hue and she was wearing one of those big jumpers that reminded him of one Remus Lupin used to wear quite often, baggy jeans that still kinda adjusted to her shape and cosy socks that if he didn't remember wrong, had been knitted by Olivia.

She is such a fucking angel, he could only think, guiding unconsciously his hand to her cheek and caressing it slowly, surprising her, gaining an innocent look from her.

"Thank you, Lilith," he drawled, his thumb still caressing her cold skin. "I really appreciate it."

"C'mon, let's bake some muffins and prepare some tea," she smiled, patting his thigh and standing up with him following her.

They spent a good time trying to figure out the recipe and doing their best not to mess it up. The elves offered to help them but both Lilith and Fred wanted to give the three of them a good rest and let them enjoy the nearness of the Christmas holidays, so they told them they had everything under control. Nilsy, in particular, couldn't help but leave with a huge smile on her face at seeing her little Lilith being so happy thanks to someone else. So, on their own, they managed to get all the ingredients and start to sort out the process.
