Chapter 55: "Defeat"

Michael Afton's P.O.V

"Run fucking faster! They're gonna get us!" exclaimed Bon Bon. "A little hard to do that when I'm carrying you!" I exclaimed back as my sister was approaching me further. I exited the Shadow Dimension, immediately finding John waiting for me. He shot a Shadow Beam, though poorly and on purpose as it breezed past me. He charged at me now, causing me to enter the Shadow Dimension again. Immediately Elizabeth entered the dimension as well as she tried hitting me with her claw, while I tried my best to jump to the side and avoid her attack. "Keep trying!" exclaimed Bon Bon at her, shot a couple of Shadow Beams at her. She dodged them as I kept on running, reaching the hill now where the others would be behind it. I proceed to go around the hill, just so it would be safer for us. John appeared now attempting to punch me, as Bon Bon managed to block his punch for me. Elizabeth ran at me to strike with her claw, as I exited the dimension once more. Immediately both John and my sister exited the dimension as Bon Bon managed to kick John right in the face, allowing us to pass by him and away from the enemy. I ran as fast as I could and finally was around the hill, only to find things were just as bad with the others. Bonnie and Mangle were completely surrounded by the enemy, along with Ennard and Nightmare leading my father's forces. I didn't see Springbonnie anywhere, as I feared the worst. Still I had to focus on helping the others. "We gotta get through them," I said. "Then move your ass! I'll be your set of eyes and defense!" exclaimed Bon Bon. I ran immediately into the heat of battle, noticing Elizabeth and John were right behind me. Nightmare Mangle noticed me and tried to attack me as I approached her, all while Bon Bon was getting ready to defend me. She tried lunging at me, though Bon Bon managed to kick her in the face with the only foot he had and knocked her on the ground. Ennard and Nightmare noticed me and Bon Bon, directing their minions to take care of us as we approached the others. Bonnie and Mangle both noticed us as well, as they focused on clearing a path for us. Nightmare Freddy tried swinging his claws at me and Bon Bon, though he was stopped by Mangle shooting a Shadow Beam at him. She moved out of the way the beam was directed at, though I managed to run at him and punch him in the face. Elizabeth tried grabbing me from behind with her claw as I quickly swung Bon Bon around as he blocked her attack with his foot. Mangle ran next to me and managed to hit Elizabeth in the face with what appeared to be a baton, knocking her back. Me and Mangle backed up to where Bonnie and the device was, as the enemy continued their relentless attacks on us. "Bon Bon is wounded! We gotta get him back to the car!" I exclaimed placing his body on the cart with wheels. I noticed Springbonnie on the ground, all battered and destroyed as my greatest fear began to sink in. "Springbonnie! Is she... " I tried to say before looking at Mangle. I didn't need an answer from her directly, only her expression to express her demise. "No," I said realizing Springbonnie was gone and had given her life for our cause. "Helpy are you there?" said Mangle using the Communicator. "I'm here! I see the enemy showed up," his voice echoed faintly through her comm. "Listen! We got wounded... and a causality... Look, I'll send two people to escort them on the cart to the car! Once they arrive bring the car to us so we can load the EMP device and get out of her!" ordered Mangle. "Who died? Tell me who died?" asked Helpy. "Just wait until the delivery is made and head to us! Focus on the mission and getting away from the enemy! Got it?!" exclaimed Mangle. She was hurting from the loss of a friend and comrade, the same feeling I was plagued with. However now was not the time to mourn, we had to leave or we would suffer the same fate. "Alright... Got it... I'll be on standby," responded Helpy on the comm. "Get Bon Bon on the cart... Along with Springbonnie!" commanded Mangle. I walked over to the cart and placed Bon Bon on the cart, as Bonnie placed Springbonnie's body next to him. "Where's Charlie and Foxy?!" I asked Mangle as she had to block an attack from Nightmare Mangle. "I don't know!" she called back. "Lefty! Foxy! Where are you!" said Bonnie accessing his coms. Suddenly Charlie and Foxy appeared next to us, both battered and damaged like Bonnie. "What happened to Springbonnie?" noticed Charlie looking at her lifeless body. "Charlie you take them to the car with Bonnie! Helpy will then come to us and we'll get out of here! Got it?!" commanded Mangle. "On it!" she responded as Bonnie grabbed the cart and pushed Bon Bon and Springbonnie's body, as Charlie stayed at their side. Nightmare Balloon Boy went to attack them, as I shot a Shadow Beam at him, though he avoided the attack. This allowed Charlie and Bonnie to get by as they ran for the car now, leaving the rest of us to defend ourselves. "We defend the device until Helpy arrives, no matter what," stated Mangle as me and Foxy backed up towards where the device was. "Right," I responded. "Yeah," said Foxy. "See what happens when you deny the future? You end up being forgotten and fall alongside those that refused to accept it," said Ennard. "YOU BECOME RATS! AND YOU KNOW HOW RATS ARE DEALT WITH!" exclaimed his crazy side. "Then you know damn well how rats will fight back when provoked," I stated. Out of nowhere Golden Freddy appeared behind us and tried striking me, as I managed to block her attack before she entered the dimension. Nightmare then tried striking Foxy as she managed to dodged his attack and attempted to strike back, all while Elizabeth and Ennard decided to join in the battle as well. My sister went to attack me, of course, as Ennard went straight for Foxy as the remaining forces of my father's army pushed on as well. There weren't many here, and it seemed some of my father's creations had been destroyed by everyone else. Now my sister, John, Ennard, Nightmare, and Golden Freddy had to rely on getting the job done themselves. John appeared behind me and struck behind me as well, not holding back with everyone watching as I blocked his attack with a Shadow Shield while also having to block my sister's attack with my axe I had summoned. Mangle managed to back away from Nightmare as she went in to help Foxy, who could do nothing more but dodge Ennard's attacks. Ennard noticed Mangle, all before Golden Freddy appeared behind Mangle and attempted to attack her. Mangle was quick to strike back by knocking Golden Freddy in the face with her baton, as she throw the baton at Ennard, causing him to dodge to the side. It was clear all of us were tired, drained from the battle and not being used to the Resurrection Power yet. At this point it was just about defending the device and staying alive until Helpy showed up, which wouldn't be too long at this point. We just had to hold out. "You're going to fall just like your friend!" exclaimed Elizabeth knocking me back with her claw as I fell to the ground. I quickly rolled to the side as she proceeded to slam her claw on the ground, forcing me to roll to the side once more to avoid her attack.  John tried stomping on me, as I managed to kicked him in the shin then getting up quickly to not be a sitting target. My sister tried grabbing me with her claw, as I moved to the side to avoid her. John tried punching me multiple times as I blocked his attacks with my hands, since I didn't have much energy left at this point. I felt fatigued, like I needed to sleep or do nothing for hours, almost making me wish to not have these type of feelings anymore. Lights illuminated all around the area with a car horn going off, all while I turned to see Helpy approaching everyone now. Everyone ducked and jumped put of the way as Helpy stopped the car now, with Bonnie and Charlie getting out of the trunk with the cart and pushing it towards the device. "Load it up! Defend them!" ordered Mangle as we focused on covering for Bonnie and Charlie. "Those devices won't save you! Not even praying will!" exclaimed Ennard going for Mangle as she blocked his attack. Nightmare Mangle and Twisted Chica made their way towards the car, as Helpy turned on the head lights to high beams, blinding both of them as they covered their eyes. Mangle and Foxy ran on over to Bonnie and Charlie to help lift up the EMP Device, setting it on the cart finally. All of us moved to the car now and to the trunk, as the enemy approached us. Ennard climbed on top of the hood, as Helpy managed to shot a couple Shadow Beams at him to fend him off. "Hurry up already!" exclaimed Helpy. Elizabeth ran at me as I blocked her attack with a shield, all while the others were doing their best to load up the device into the back. John tried striking me as well, as I backed up to evade his attack and managed to summon an axe and threw at my sister to evade getting hit from her. She didn't have time to evade the attack as it hit her in the chest, causing her to fall on the ground. "It's loaded! Everyone in the car now!" exclaimed Mangle. Bonnie and Charlie closed the doors to the back, as me, Foxy, and Mangle tried to get in the car. I went around the back to enter the passenger seat, as Nightmare tried slashing me. Helpy shot a Shadow Beam at him through the window that was open on the passenger side as he managed to dodge the attack. I quickly opened the door and got inside, as well as Mangle. As soon as Foxy opened her door on the right back side Ennard grabbed her with his wires and wrapped them around her arm. Foxy kicked him back as she tried getting inside, though he wouldn't let her go. "Cut off his arm now!" exclaimed Bonnie throwing what looked like a grenade as it bounced off the side of the door and next to Ennard, as Foxy managed shot a beam at his wires. "Floor it!" I said to Helpy as he slammed on the brakes, just as an explosion shook the car behind us. I quickly moved over to the driver seat, as Foxy slammed the door shut and I turned us around immediately. I instantly drove down the road fast until we reached the gate, not daring to look behind us and look back. "The gate is still closed!" exclaimed Bonnie noticing it. I floored the gas pedal even more as I ran straight through the gate that opened from the speed and impact, shaking the car from my actions. Thankfully it was able to open outwards and not inwards or else that wouldn't have worked. I didn't bother slowing down and checking the road when turning onto it, finally leaving the graveyard for good. We had escaped, survived, and gotten the last device needed. Yet it felt like a defeat more than anything. "She's gone... " said Charlie realizing Springbonnie was dead, looking over at her body. "Those bastards," said Helpy in the passenger seat, showing his remorse for her demise. "Why Springbonnie... why did it have to be you... " said Bonnie with tears in his eyes. Everyone didn't want to say anything, though their expression showed everything. I could see Mangle wanting to cry, holding everything back to not let the pain get to her and stay strong. Foxy seemed to be grasping the concept of a life being taken away in front of her, one of our own for the first time and for good. No second life or chances in sight this time. There was me, leaving me nothing but a pain I hadn't felt since I saw my sister killed by my father. The pain of losing family. To think she was gone, to not even known her for long and yet the pain in my soul felt like I had known her for my whole life. It was a feeling that made me wish I could cry again, express my own pain for who we lost today. How many more lives had to be taken away before my father and his minions were stopped, until the pool of blood would dry up for good? The costs were too much, even if I knew of them and how much we would have to sacrifice to stop my father. Is this what Freddy meant? The feeling of it all seeming hopeless and all for nothing? I was having doubts, after all this time. Could we really win this fight I had been fighting for so long, or was defeat inevitable for us? At this point, I didn't want to know the answer to that question. I'm sure I wasn't going to like it.
