Chapter 81: "Inspiration"

Mangle's P.O.V

"Any idea how to get out of this situation?" asked Michael. "Working on it. Kinda hard when you're surrounded by about fifty enemies," responded Freddy. "You mean approximately forty-six enemies in total," said Scott correcting him. "Doesn't change the fact that we're outnumbered," I said. Suddenly we all turned to sight of a couple Prototypes and endoskeletons getting thrown to the ground next to us, as we were all met with the sight of Nightmare. He ran on over to us, as some of us got into a fighting stance to defend ourselves from him, that was if he was attempting to attack us. "Don't! He's on our side!" exclaimed Freddy walking in front of us. Nightmare ran over to us and stopped and fired a couple Shadow Beams at one of the endoskeletons, all before he entered the Resurrection State a second later. "I'll stay at our side, but only to stop William and ensure the nightmare has a reason to feed on the weak and give birth to the strong," spoke Nightmare. "Good enough for us," responded Freddy. "Everyone! We stick together and we take down every single last of the enemy, no matter what! Now, let's give William a bigger mess to clean up!" All of us got into a fighting stance as we all ran towards the enemy in front of us, as they managed to do the same. I summoned my baton and went for the nearest endoskeleton, as I used all my power and shoved my baton into its face, causing to go completely through and destroying the head of it. It collapsed onto the ground deactivated and destroyed, as I went for one of the Prototypes who blocked my baton with its blade. I attempted to punch it, as it managed to jump and aimed its laser at me to fire upon. Nightmare stepped in front of me and quickly grabbed the arm of the Prototype without giving it a chance and ripped it off before he slashed the head of it, all before stomping on its head until it was destroyed for good. His methods were brutal, that was undeniable, though it was still a save that had to be appreciated. To be far I never thought I would be fighting alongside Nightmare, and the same could be said for Cassidy and John. At least this wasn't the first time we had fought together, even if they weren't the same people back in FNAF World. I gave him a quick nod for his efforts who did the same back, as we both turned out attention back towards the battle in front of us, as I shot a couple Shadow Beams at one of the Prototypes. It managed to dodge my attacks as it shot its lasers back at me, which I was able to block using a Shadow Shield before Michael came over and shot a couple Shadow Beams back at it. It had to stop firing and duck to avoid being hit, as Cassidy appeared in front of it and tried punching it as it dodged every attack, before John appeared behind it and quickly jabbed his daggers into the back of its head and caused it to fall onto the ground deactivated. Foxy suddenly went to the side of me and summoned a Shadow Shield to block an attack from a White Rabbit, as Freddy came in the help and fired lasers at it. It turned around and summoned a Shadow Shield to defend itself, as Charlie attempted to punch it. It avoided the attack by entering the Shadow Dimension, as we all focused our attention on the rest of the enemies. I focused on a Prototype, who noticed me going for it as it aimed its laser and fired upon me. I summoned my shield and blocked its attacks while I rushed it at, though it was quick enough to roll out of the way and try shooting me again. I moved a shield in front of it and blocked its attacks, as I turned my head to the sight of a Tangle trying to bite me from behind. It was stopped by Freddy punching it in the face, as it fell onto the ground before I turned back around to face the Prototype as I ran towards it with my shield now. It rolled out of the way as I ran towards it, which prompted me to shoot Shadow Beams at it. It avoid all my attacks by dodging them, as I summoned a Shadow Shield and below me and jumped onto it then in the air while throwing a baton towards the Prototype will all my power. It went straight for the Prototype, as it attempted to block it with its shield, though due to the speed of the baton and how I was aiming for its face it didn't have time to defend itself. The baton hit the Prototype directly in the face, causing it to fall over and deactivate its Shadow Shield as jumped towards it and shot a couple Shadow Beams at it before it finally deactivated. I was starting to feel a little weak, especially considering how much of the Resurrection Power I had been using as well as being in the Resurrection State for so long now. However once we dealt with the enemies and I allowed myself to rest a little by not using the power for a moment I would be fine, though it wasn't like we even had the time to be resting. There would be time for that later. I turned to the sight of Foxy fighting an endoskeleton by punching it in the face, causing it to fall on the ground before Michael took his axe and slammed it on its face. There was an explosion near us I turned to the sight of it over towards my right, as I could see two Prototypes flying across the room and landing on the ground, while the other enemies were on the ground attempting to get back on their feet as soon as they could. "So far so good! Keep it up and we'll get through this!" exclaimed Freddy fighting one of the White Rabbits. I focused my attention back towards another Prototype, who ran at me with its blade out as I summoned my baton to use to defend myself with. It swung its blade at me, as I ducked my head to avoid being hit as I blocked another swing using my baton. I attempted to kick it in the face as it then try to jab me with its blade, which I avoided by moving my body back and causing it to miss. "Warning! I detect another presence incoming! It's Ennard!" spoke Duality's voice. I turned to where the office was, as I noticed some of the Prototypes and other enemies around that area turn around before they were all knocked to the ground. It couldn't seem him though, which meant he would attempt to attack from the Shadow Dimension, though as to who he could attack first was something we would soon find out. I continued to fight the Prototype, as it and me turned to the sight of Nightmare running towards it. He tackled it to the ground before digging his claws into the Prototypes face and pulling out its wires using his claws, as the was Prototype deactivated now. Just as Nightmare was done Ennard appeared next to him and wrapped his wires around him, as I quickly turned to their direction and swung my baton over at Ennard's face. He dodged my attack by moving his head out of the direction of my attack, however this allowed Nightmare to slash and cut apart of Ennard's wires, causing him to let go and groan in pain. "Heh. One little scratch isn't going to stop me," said Ennard. "You know it's pointless to be fighting all of us, especially since William knows you're against him," I said to him. "And what? You want me to join your side just to defeat him?" responded Ennard. "No, I want you out of our way. If not, we'll continue to treat you as our enemy," I responded pointing my baton at him. "I thought I always was?" asked Ennard. "You're nothing but a pest, a cockroach that refuses to die. So. Move out of our way, or I'll tear you in half where no part of you can escape," said Nightmare walking up to my side. "If I can't have my share of power, what right do all of you have to possess it? All I have left now is the urge to cut down those who don't deserve it," said Ennard. "BECAUSE POWER IS EVERYTHING! I HAVE ENOUGH OF IT TO TEAR YOUR OWN CIRCUITS OUT!" yells Ennard's crazy side as he ran towards me. Nightmare got in front of me and attempted to slash Ennard, however he jumped over his head and landed behind him before Nightmare could turn around and slash him again. Ennard ignored him and jumped towards me, as I summoned a Shadow Shield to block him. He landed on my shield as his wires moved around my shield and went straight for my eyes, as I barely ducked in time as they went over my head. I could feel a wound from the top of my head, as I got rid of the shield and jumped back to get away from Ennard before I placed my hand on top of my head. I could see oil on my hand, a fresh wound that Ennard had managed to create when I thought I had avoided his attack. Nightmare ran towards Ennard and attempted to slash him, as he avoided Nightmare's attack by moving his body back and quickly shooting multiple wires back at Nightmare. He blocked Ennard's attacks by summoning a Shadow Shield, before getting rid of it and attempting to slash his wires. Ennard moved his wires back before I attempted to strike Ennard with my baton I had summoned, though he was more than ready for me as he turned around and quickly backed up before his wires wrapped around my neck. I couldn't do much as he quickly punched my head over-and-over, until Nightmare ran at Ennard and attempted to get him to release me. Ennard summoned a shield, though that didn't stop Nightmare as he managed to grab the shield and pull it away that seemed to drag Ennard as well. It allowed him to drop me as I fell onto the ground before I quickly looked up to see Ennard wrap his body around Nightmare, as one of the Redbears noticed the both of them and shot a couple Shadow Beams at the Redbear. I noticed a Prototype coming up from behind as it attempted to stab me with its blade, which I avoided by rolling out of the way. I got up quickly and summoned my baton to hit the Prototype with, as it managed to avoid my attack before quickly aiming its laser at me. I summoned my shield just as it was firing its lasers as I got rid of it and ran at it while swinging my baton at its head, finally managing to hit it. I was stopped however as Ennard ran towards me now and tackled me to the ground, all while the Prototype I was fighting tried to slash us with its blade. Ennard moved out of the way, which meant the Prototype's attack was going for me now. I rolled back as the Prototype's blade stab the ground, as I shot the blades multiples time, causing it to break in half. I was stopped my Ennard punching me in the face as I fell back onto the ground, as the Prototype aimed its laser at me. However, it was stopped to the sight of Nightmare behind and digging his claws into the head of the Prototype, as it collapsed onto the ground deactivated from the blow. Nightmare then turned around to the sight of the same Redbear from earlier and two endoskeletons, as Ennard quickly shot multiple of his wires towards me as I quickly got back up and avoided them as best as I could. Summoning a shield at this point was pointless since Ennard's attacks would only maneuver around it and still attack me, which meant the only way I could stop his attacks would be to try and avoid them, then go on the offensive when the time was right. One of his wires went straight for my head again, as I was able to dodge as it went past my head then another went straight for my neck that I also was lucky to avoid. Another one went for my leg, then another, multiple going for whatever Ennard felt like targeting while I was barely avoiding his attacks. Finally I found the opening with one of the wires that was behind all the attacks, as I quickly shot the wire that went for my chest before I missed my opportunity. However I felt one of the wires pierced through the side of my chest and pull out immediately, just as I had shot Ennard's wires before we both stumbled back. The pain was rough, nothing I had ever felt before as I had to take a knee and hold my hand over the new wound on the side of my body. I was really starting to feel exhausted now, drained from being in the Resurrection State for so long though I couldn't afford to exit the state and fight Ennard normally. This was someone I needed all my strength and power to fight against, even if it meant giving my own life. "You're weak. Getting slower. Being in the Resurrection State for so long is taking its toll on you, and soon you won't have the strength to fight at all. So do me a favor and let me end your miserable life already," said Ennard looking at the missing part of his wire with oil leaking as he stood up up. "And give up that easily? Heh. I would be doing a disservice to everyone here. My job is to protect and, if necessary, give my own life so they continue to fight. I fight to ensure my team and everyone continues to fight as well, to inspire them so they have the will to do what is necessary when I'm gone. I represent, to everyone, that the fight lives on while we still give it a fire that can burn for a long time. A fire that can never be put out," I said as I slowly got back up on my feet. "So. Be the fire extinguisher and put out the fire before it spreads even further. If you can." This seemed to bother Ennard, as he seemed put off a little from my comment, until he finally let out a smirk a moment later. I quickly turned around behind me, knowing Ennard was making a gesture for a reason, as I saw two Prototypes aiming their lasers at me and getting ready to fire. I quickly summoned my shields and blocked the attacks from the Prototypes, as I quickly had to duck out of the way of Ennard lunging at me again. I rolled to the side to the sight of the room seemingly less crowded now, as it seemed a majority of the enemies in the room had been cleared with only a decent number of them left to defeat. I could see Nightmare fighting two Tangles and two Prototypes, and everyone else seemed to be engaged in battle as well that couldn't lend a hand at the moment. I had to fight alone. I jumped up quickly in the air from the sight of Ennard's wires heading straight for, though stopping as I was high in the air now. This meant they had a certain range they could go for, which I could use to my advantage. I landed far back now, as the two Prototypes from earlier attempted to strike me with their blades. I ducked at the sight of them as I ran past them, all while checking behind me to find Ennard gone now. Either he was aware I had found a way to counter his attacks, or he was closing in the distance since I out of the range of his wire attacks. Both of the Prototypes aimed their lasers at me and got ready to fire, as they quickly turned to the sight of Nightmare grabbing one of the Prototypes and slamming it on the ground, then throwing it towards the other Prototype before both of them fell onto the ground. He was stopped from one of the Tangles jumping on his back, as he slashed its arm before knocking it to the ground. Suddenly I turned around to the sight of Ennard before having his wires wrap around my leg and pull me down to the ground and towards him. I quickly shot Shadow Beams at him, as he managed to block my attacks with a Shadow Shield while still pulling me towards him. All at once multiple of his wires shot towards me, as I fired my Shadow Beams at every single one I could. I did manage to hit a few, but it wasn't enough for multiple to pierce through my body at once. The amount of pain I was feeling was nothing like I had ever felt before, I looked down to understand the reason why the pain was as brutal at it was feeling. Multiple holes were in my chest, too many to count, with oil spilling out of every single one of them and the only thing I could do was stare at the damage and look back at Ennard who was walking over to me now. Nightmare suddenly leaped over me and swiped his claws at Ennard's wires still wrapped around me leg, only for Ennard to drag me across the floor and towards Nightmare. He leaped out of the way before landing on the ground and grabbing the wire before stopping Ennard and pulling him towards us. Ennard fell onto the ground as Nightmare suddenly turned around to the sight of one of the Tangles before attempting to slash it, which it avoided by blocking his attack using a Shadow Shield. Some of the Prototypes showed up and aimed their lasers at me, as they quickly turned around to the sight of Michael running at them with his axe. He chopped one of the Prototypes blade in half as Nightmare grabbed it and slammed it on the ground, as another Tangle ran at Michael with its mouth open. Michael swung his axe towards the Tangle, though it only jumped up and kicked the axe right out of Michael's hand. To think the both of them, Michael and Nightmare, would be fighting this hard to ensure my safety. That was my job, but in my current state there wasn't much I could do. I really was starting to see how Bonnie felt during his last moments and what he meant to give everyone during that time. He knew when the moment had come to take him away, and perhaps I was seeing that moment right in front of me. "If I am going down, I going down the only way I would wish to see it end. Fighting until the end," I said struggling as I slowly stood up now. One of the Prototypes noticed me as they shot their Shadow Beams at me, as I blocked it with my shield. I attempted to summon my baton, but I didn't have the energy to do so and summoning a Shadow Shield was hard enough at the moment. Michael was still fighting the Tangle, as I shot a Shadow Beam at it which missed it of course, though it gave Michael the chance to punch it in the face. A endoskeleton ran towards me with its blade out, but was stopped from Nightmare running towards it and grabbing its head with his mouth before ripping it out completely. "Hold on Mangle! The others will assist you!" called Duality's voice. I turned to the sight of everyone running towards us now, all battered but functioning and triumphant on defeating most of the enemies here. To have such a team and family, it was what I always wanted. They had given me what no one else could, a bond and goals we shared together. Something we could all fight for. Out of nowhere Ennard leaped onto me and wrapped his wires around me and my face, which completely blocked me from seeing anything. "All that power and it isn't enough to save your friends. Especially yourself," spoke Ennard. He moved his wires out of my face and let go of me, only for me to see a Shadow Beam from a Redbear in front of me go right at my face. In one instant I felt like a part of my face had been opened, as well as my left eye go out completely. It was like I couldn't feel anything now, like I was numb to pain or any feeling at all. All that inspiration had lead to this moment, something I had always knew would happen. Though being in the moment, realizing things were over. It didn't feel real. I reached the end of my journey as a leader, but perhaps the path of inspiration would still continue on. That path would be lead on by Freddy and the others. Inspiration would never be gone, not unless you had those to keep it going. That's just what Freddy and the others would do for me. Keep the inspiration going. Keep what I taught everyone and to pass it on to others. And most importantly, keep the fight going for change. If you want change, you have to fight to make it happen.
