The next morning rumors were going around thick.

Apparently the night before, the Minister of Magic and Dumbledore had gone to get Hagrid and before they could leave, Mr. Malfoy, Draco's father, had shown up and called for Dumbledore's resignation.

Surprisingly, there were no more attacks, even though Delilah was sure that it wasn't Hagrid.

Summer had started creeping back over the grounds around the castle; sky and lake alike turned periwinkle blue and flowers large as cabbages burst into bloom in the greenhouses. But without Hagrid, it seemed... incomplete.

There were no visitors allowed into the hospital wing either, especially Slytherins. Madam Pomfrey was firm, believing that the attacker could come back to finish them off, even though there hadn't been any more attacks since the Ravenclaw prefect and Hermione. Yet everyone seemed more scared than before, now that Dumbledore was gone.

The teachers were still escorting them everywhere, which was obnoxious, but somehow welcome by most.

The only times that felt remotely normal were meals, though they were a lot quieter than normal. Something was bothering Delilah during one such breakfast.

She had figured out, along with Draco, that the chamber was in Myrtle's bathroom and that the monster was a basilisk, and that Tom Marvolo Riddle's diary was the diary that had somehow ended up in Ginny's possession, making her become the Heir.

Over the summer that felt like forever ago, Delilah had gotten to know Ginny and knew that she would never hurt a fly unless they really deserved it or they were playing Quidditch.

So the diary had to be really powerful, and Delilah was determined to steal it to figure out what it was, and then give it back. Though she was hesitant to, Delilah knew that she couldn't let Ginny keep up the attacks, though she couldn't tell on her without proof that it was Riddle's diary.

"Hey, Delilah we need to hurry or we'll be late for class," Draco said, jerking her out of her thoughts.

Delilah nodded. She had Lockhart first. Boring, pointless, Lockhart, who still hadn't answered her question from the beginning of the year. He probably had 'forgotten'.

Then, the Slytherins went to Transfiguration. Before the class ended however, a teacher Delilah didn't recognize came into the room. She whispered something in McGonagall's ear. McGonagall's face turned five shades lighter and she shot up.

"Head down to your common room, now," she ordered and rushed out.

They Slytherins waited a moment, and then in unison packed up their bags and walked out the door.

Delilah put her wand in her pocket and walked by Draco.

"I'm going to go see what all the fuss is about, I saw the direction they walked in, can you take my bag?" Delilah told Draco.

"Be careful," He took her bag. "I'll wait for you."

"Thanks, I will. See you soon."

With that Delilah slipped out from the group of Slytherins. Delilah was wondering where to go when over the speakers, or whatever they were, McGonagall's voice declared,

"All students are to return to their House dormitories at once. All teachers return to the staff room. Immediately, please." There was an edge of fear in McGonagall's voice that Delilah had never heard before.

Making a decision, Delilah made her way to the staff room and hid behind a tapestry right next to the door. Behind the tapestry was a small tunnel. She made her way along it and found a spyhole. Delilah looked in and saw the staff room.
