The next day everyone, even Delilah, got up late. The common room seemed very quiet compared to how boisterous it had been, with many yawns punctuating the tired conversations. The only person who seemed to be energetic, as always, was Daphne, who was animatedly talking to Pansy, who didn't seem to be listening, as she was just nodding.

"Hey Pansy, Daphne," Delilah said as she sat beside them. "How was your night?"

Pansy sleepily smiled.

"Good, Blaise asked me and it was so fun."

"I thought you two broke up last year?" Delilah asked, amused.

Pansy shrugged.

"We got back together for the ball."

Of course they did. They always were going on and off with each other, sometimes making out in the back of History of Magic and other times ignoring the existence of each other.

"What about you Daphne?"

Daphne beamed.

"Oh it was wonderful, I don't think anything is going to happen between me and Andrei, but it was very fun. But what about you? You were practically beaming with Draco."

Delilah blushed.

"You were! It was absolutely adorable! I bet when you two snuck out you kissed!" Pansy declared.

Delilah's blush reddened.

"They did!" Daphne squealed.

"Weren't you two supposed to be focused on your own dates?" Delilah mumbled.

"We were! We just happened to notice how you and Draco were having a blast! And how you two disappeared for quite a while outside."

Daphne wriggled her eyebrows at Delilah.

"Why did I come join you?" Delilah wondered to herself.

Pansy and Daphne shrugged.

As December neared its close, Delilah became very glad that she had finished her homework earlier, despite not wanting to, so spent some of her time reading, practicing potions and her spellwork, or helping Draco with the homework he had neglected.

But the main problem was Harry. Delilah was positive he hadn't worked out his egg, despite as his claims otherwise. He always had been a terrible liar, but Delilah wasn't sure how to approach him due to their argument. She had asked Hermione, who had flat out refused to carry any messages. Classes were about to start, so one day after class she would corner him.

Finally the opportunity showed itself. Despite the thick snow that was still on the ground, Care of Magical Creatures hadn't been canceled, which made Delilah the only one actually excited to go. Delilah tried to cheer Draco up by saying the Hagrid, and therefore the Skrewts probably wouldn't be there because of that blasted article that had appeared that morning, which got him moving.

When they arrived at Hagrid's cabin, however, they found an elderly witch with closely cropped gray hair and a very prominent chin standing before his front door. Right beside her was Harry and Ron. Operation Corner was a go.

Delilah and the rest of the Slytherins joined them just as Harry was loudly asking, "Where's Hagrid?"

"He's indisposed," said the witch shortly.

Draco grinned as some of the Slytherins chuckled around them.

"You were right," he stated.

Delilah nodded, unsure how to feel. She liked Hagrid, and hated how that Rita woman had made him look, but she was excited to see how the witch, Professor Grubbly-Plank, would teach them.
