Angeline.
I frowned as Lucilia smirked. I grabbed my queen and ate her pawn but she easily ate my queen with her knight, effectively targeting my king. We haven't even been playing long and she has already checkmated me. We were playing chess because I proposed a bet to her. I know bets were like gambling and gambling was a sin but I.. I was too weak, I gave into the temptation of my desires. If I win the game, Lucilia will go out on another date with me and she will give me a kiss on the forehead. But if she wins, I will be forced to wear a seductive and.. rather revealing devil costume for a whole day. Of course I thought I was better at chess than her but.. as I stared at the board, trying to find a way to save my king, I knew I had lost.

If I move my king to the right, her rook will eat me. If I move my king to the left, her bishop will eat me. If I try to move forward, her queen will eat me as well. Moving backward was not an option as I was cornered. I heard Lucilia chuckling but I did not pay her any attention as I tried to focus. But no matter how much I analyzed the board and Lucilia, there was no way out.

I didn't want to wear anything revealing so instead of admitting defeat, I bit my lip and took my king, hiding it under my sweater. I gave Lucilia a sheepish smile, "Technically you can't eat my king if it's not on the board."

Lucilia chuckled and raised a brow, "I thought you had your morals? Or is cheating considered moral now?" I blushed and shook my head. Sulking, I gave up my king and placed it back on the board.

"Good girl," Lucilia smirked. "That's what you get for challenging the chess master."

"Intruders! My Queens, there are intruders!" I jumped, surprised and looked at the vampire knight who was yelling hysterically.

Without asking, Lucilia and I stood up and went outside. To our shock, five angels were being beaten up by vampires. The angels were begging to be released and I didn't know why but it ignited something within me. I was baffled and stunned at the sight but my feet began running and before I knew it, I was protecting the angels from the vampires.

"Stop! They're hurt! They won't fight back! Please stop!"

The vampires stopped reluctantly. One vampire knight scoffed and glared at me, "Why should we take orders from you? You have no title, human. Stay out of this." My eyes widened, I was shocked, I couldn't say anything back.

Lucilia glared at the vampire knight, "What did you just fucking say?"

The other vampire knights were shocked at what their colleague stated. "D-Don't say that, idiot! That's Angeline, she's a friend of the queens!"

Although I felt comforted that Lucilia was willing to stand up for me, I knew that what the vampire knight said was true. Other than being friends with the queens, I truly had no title, nothing. I had no authority to order them around. I was, but a mere human, a weak human. "No, she's right. I-I do not have authority over all of you.. which is why I am begging you all to please spare them. Please.. look at them. Do they look like they are in the condition to fight? These angels.. they wouldn't come here to fight, they know this is the center of the vampire kingdom. They must have came for a different reason!"

"Precisely." The vampires turned around and saw my friends approaching us.

Vaye nodded at the vampires, "You are only doing your duties, I understand that but do not disrespect a friend of mine. Am I clear?" I got goosebumps when I heard Vaye's voice. Her voice was full of authority and power, it held so much supremacy that I couldn't help but look down as a sign of respect.

The vampires all looked scared of Vaye but they still nodded and exclaimed, "We understand, your majesty!"

Weiss then approached me and the angels behind me. "Mhm, how shall I torture each and every one of you? Cut off your every limbs? Take out your eyes? Feed you your own feces? Or shall I.. cut your wings and stitch it back to your chests instead? Shall I do that?" I couldn't help but gulp at Weiss' look. Her eyes shone a bright color of yellow yet the dark need of inflicting pain upon others was very noticable.
