Breakfast was beyond awkward when only Jerome and Scarlett spoke to KT. And when the girl left because the others said nothing, Scarlett scoffed and went to go after her. She understood their fear and their harsh attitudes, she really did, she just wished they'd get it through their thick skulls that there was no way KT was a bad guy. She was literally the sweetest person. She cried when she and Scarlett watched Lilo and Stitch. There was no way she was evil.
No evil person cried at a cartoon.
"Oh, Scarlett, before you leave, I want you to read for the female lead," Mara said. Scarlett stared at her, not sure what she was talking about. "For the play?"
"Oh. Why?"
"With your history in drama you could be a really good lead," she explained.
Scarlett nodded, "Um, okay?"
She grabbed her bag and followed KT, who she saw standing on the landing, waiting for the others to leave before she did. Scarlett joined her, about to comfort her, and tell her that they were being idiots but she was cut off before anything left her mouth. The others were leaving for school, and they were saying horrible things about KT, ones that made the girls eyes water and her head shake as Scarlett tried to make her feel better.

In an attempt to help KT forget all the horrendous things that had been said to and about her, Scarlett spent the whole day with her. She didn't care about the consequences. Let them think she was evil. She didn't care. Well, she did but for KT she was going to pretend she didn't.
Her attempts did little to help as the others would not waver from their stares, whispers and glaring. So, Scarlett unashamedly announced she had just started her period and she needed KT to go with her to the toilet as moral support.
And Mr Sweet being a man, knew very little about the fact she didn't actually need KT with her, and was too awkward to argue. He allowed them to leave.
Sibuna followed but ended up in a classroom, discussing whatever their next steps were and how they needed to stay nearby to ensure Scarlett didn't get taken in by Team Evil.
Hypocrites. They'd believe her but not KT.
"Thank you," KT spoke, following another awkward encounter with the others in said classroom. They had only wanted to grab KT's forgotten water bottle. "For believing me."
Scarlett smiled, "Betray me and I'll kill you but you've been way too nice this entire time to just suddenly switch up and become evil. Call me stupid for trusting you or whatever but you've basically been like one of my best friends this whole year."
KT broke out in a grin, "Best friend? I think I kinda like that title." She grabbed Scarlett's arm, linking her own through it. "You're my best friend too."
