"What?" Edo half screamed in the darkness, scrambling to his feet, staring at the sudden family reunion before him. "What? Why are you still alive?"
Indy grinned, smelling of sweat and brimstone, putting his fedora back onto his head, silhouetted by the hellish lava. "Edo, I'm like a bad penny. I always show up. Besides, your knowing ones of the apkallu wanted me alive. There was one in the pit ready to catch me if your goons made my daughter drop me."
"DAD!" Emily cried, struggling against the ninjas holding her back.
Edo gave a nod.
The ninjas let her go.
Emily raced toward Indy, wrapping him in a hug.
"And you have offspring," Edo seethed.
"More bad pennies!" Shorty declared, challenging Edo.
Indy grinned between Emily and Shorty, one arm hugging each of them. "Its one way to nickel and dime the villains out of business."
"Evil is excellent business, Dr. Jones," Edo replied. "Chiba! Men! Tie them up on the sacrifice stone with the shamaness!"
