[ Chapter 4, Page 13]

At the lodge... Y/N's POV;

In the eerie silence of our dimly lit living room, a spine-tingling scream shattered the tranquility. The hair on my arms stood on end as I recognized that all too familiar cry, the very same one that had haunted our nights ever since we discovered that Zane had gone missing. The collective dread etched across our faces as all four of us exchanged frantic glances, a shared apprehension that sent shivers down our spines. We knew that losing Zane was a luxury we couldn't afford, not at this moment, not after everything we'd been through.

With the adrenaline coursing through my veins, the urgency of the situation was palpable. Without a word, we sprang into action, our footsteps echoing through the cold, tiled floors of the living room as we charged towards the stairs. Panic gnawed at our insides as we ascended the staircase two steps at a time, driven by the haunting echo of that scream that seemed to reverberate through the very foundation of our house.

At the top of the stairs, the scene before us was chaotic. Garroth, though visibly distressed, showed no hesitation. With a single, determined motion, he crashed through the door of Zane's room. The sound of splintering wood filled the air, leaving an ominous reminder of our urgency. A wave of uncertainty washed over us as we rushed into the room, not knowing what we might find.

Amidst the chaos, we fumbled to grasp the gravity of the situation. Aaron, always a rock in times of turmoil, scanned the room with laser-like focus, his eyes searching every corner and crevice for any sign of our dear friend. Aphmau, usually so composed, shared in our collective anxiety, her gaze darting from place to place, her lips trembling in silent prayer.

And then there was me, my heart pounding like a frantic drum, each beat a painful reminder of the fear and uncertainty that now enveloped us. Zane's trembling form stood out in stark relief against the dimly lit room, his fear-stricken gaze fixated on the unconscious figure of Kim, who sat slumped in a chair at the far end. The room seemed to hold its breath, as if waiting for some unknown peril to reveal itself.

"Baby brother! Are you okay?!" Garroth's voice quivered with concern as he rushed to Zane's side, his heart pounding in his chest. His protective instincts had kicked into overdrive, and he couldn't bear to see his younger sibling in such a state.

Zane's voice trembled with a mixture of fear and disbelief as he recounted the unsettling encounter. His wide, terror-stricken eyes were almost pleading for us to believe him. "No! I am not okay at all!" he exclaimed, pointing a trembling finger toward the unconscious figure of Kim. "That woman... thing, kissed me!"
