- Chapter 48: (Confusion & Newcomings)

- Haeun's POV:

As I layed in bed after Ga-On left my chambers, the memory of Ga-On's unexpected kiss lingers in my mind. I feel my face heat up as I remember the sensation of his lips on mine.

I quickly sit up as I feel my heart racing.

'Why did Ga-On kiss me? And why... why do I feel so conflicted by it?!', I think in confusion.

'H-He said he did it to make me stop crying, but... why do I not like that reason?! And, and he didn't even warn me!', I think as my thoughts start to become neverending, until I hear a soft knock at my chamber door.

'Did someone knock?', I think as I listen again, but there is no sound.

"Come in?", I hesitantly call out, trying to figure out if I was hallucinating or not.

The door slowly slid open, revealing Ga-On. I look at him in confusion as my heart skips a beat.

"Ga-On... What are you doing here?" I whispered while looking away to hide from his gaze.

Ga-On stepped into the room as his gaze never left mine.

"I... couldn't sleep.", He replied quietly as I looked back at him, still confused.

"I needed to make sure you were okay.", Ga-On adds as my cheeks flushed at his words.

"I-I'm fine...", I reply, looking everywhere, but at him as the memory of him kissing me still floods my mind.

"Haeun, look at me.", Ga-On says, breaking my thoughts as I shyly look at him.

"Are you sure you're fine?", Ga-On asks once more.

"W-Why wouldn't I be?", I ask him, avoiding his gaze again.

"Because you aren't asleep, that worries me. I... I shouldn't have kissed you.", Ga-On says as my chest stings with his words.

"Why not? I mean, yes, it was unexpected, but...", I start to say, but hold myself back.

"But what?", Ga-On asks me.

"I... I don't know. I'm just confused. That's all. So clear up my confusion, will you? Why are you here?", I ask him, wanting answers.

"I'm here to apologize. I'm sorry... I shouldn't have overstepped, I just... acted on impulse... To make you quit crying, so I came back to apologize and to make sure you were okay since it was unexpected.", Ga-On says, catching me off guard.

"I-It's okay. I understand... I... also shouldn't have followed you. So, I guess we're even?", I reply with a small smile.

"Yeah, I guess so... You also make me confused too, so we're even on that too.", Ga-On says, making me widen my eyes.

'What does that mean?! Is he making me more confused on purpose now?!?!', I think as Ga-On bows to me.

"I'll leave now. Make sure you get some sleep, Your Highness.", Ga-On says as he slowly leaves my chambers.

'Why was he so formal just now? I don't think I can sleep after that conversation!', I think as I drop myself on my bed with a sigh.
