Let it go

"Look what I've got!"

Peter turned around and nearly dropped the ice cream he had. "Edmund!" He cried. "Let it go!"

Edmund held the duck in his arms, frowning. "Why?" He asked.

The duck actually seemed rather content considering it had been grabbed on its walk and was now being held by an extremely proud and happy eight year old boy.

"It's a duck that's why!" Peter exclaimed.

If anything Edmund just frowned deeper at this. "I know it's a duck." He said, sounding confused. "It's a nice duck, I think he likes being held."

Peter was flabbergasted, how on earth had Edmund managed to pull this off? He remembered trying to pet the ducks when he was younger, all they'd do was run away from him.

But somehow Edmund had managed to get hold of one and was now holding it like it was his baby.

"I-" Peter stopped. "You'll have to put it down sooner or later because you can't take it home."

Edmund thought for a moment. "Can you keep ducks as pets?" He asked.

"No." Peter said quickly and firmly before his little brother got any ideas. "And especially not random ones you've found in a park."

Edmund looked slightly disappointed by this, and just sighed. "Okay then." He said, before he bent down and placed the duck back on solid ground. "Off you go, back to your friends."

The duck flapped its wings a few times as it was put down, let out a rather loud quack before it waddled back off towards the lake..

Peter watched it go, before shaking his head in amusement. "You never fail to surprise me Ed." He breathed.

Edmund just stared at the duck. "I'll miss him." He said, before he turned and continued walking.
