"Don't pretend."
"Don't pretend what?"
"That you care."
Peter blinked, before he took a deep breath. "I care." He said simply and quietly.
Edmund swallowed hard, shaking his head. "No it's okay, I get it." He whispered. "I don't deserve it."
Peter's heart skipped a beat - this didn't feel like Edmund he was talking to, he'd changed in the last few days... Maybe in a good way?
But also in a bad way. It was clear he'd had a rough few days, being with the Witch wouldn't have been easy, and he'd come back almost a different person.
"Hey, I care okay?" Peter said firmly, actually gripping his brother's shoulder. "And I want to know what happened, I need to know where you're hurt so I can help you okay?"
Edmund stared at him for ages, before he sighed. He looked guilty, so beyond guilty and it broke Peter's heart. But it was okay, he'd help, and Edmund would be his old old self again, no matter how long it took.
