I just want to help••••••••
Peter took a deep breath as he stepped out the tent, running a hand over his face and squeezing his eyes shut for a moment.
When he opened them again, it was to see Susan stepping out from her own tent, smiling gently when she saw him.
"You okay?" She asked as she walked over to join him.
Peter nodded a little. "Yeah." He whispered.
"Edmund asleep?" Susan asked slowly, sounding worried.
But Peter calmed her with just a nod. "Finally managed to nod off." He sighed. "He's in a lot of pain though."
Susan swallowed hard. "I can imagine." She choked out.
Peter took a deep breath. "I just want to help him." He muttered. "But I can't - there's nothing I can do to take away the pain."
Susan's eyes watered. "No, maybe not." She murmured softly. "But you can be there for him, that's what he needs right now, you."
Peter stared at her for ages, before slowly nodding his head, looking on the brink of tears but there was no way he was going to let them fall.
Susan smiled, giving Peter's shoulder a squeeze. "You'll both be alright." She whispered. "Trust me."
