Life is cruel

If there's one thing I've learnt over the years, it's life can be cruel. Life is cruel, and nothing you do can stop that.
Things happen, things that are unfair, things that are undeserved, things that you would never wish upon anyone. But you can't ever stop them.
You watch your closest friends and family members go through so much, you watch them cry, shut down, scream, sob - you watch as the life drains slowly from their eyes.
Life can be horrible, and you can't stop those horrible things from happening.
No matter how much you try.
You try and you try and you try but I keep happening, people keep getting hurt, because that's just the way that life goes.
There are good times of course, and they outweigh the bad tenfold...
But life is cruel, and there's no escaping that.
You can run and run and run but evil will always find a way to catch you up, trip you when you least expect it and send you falling to the ground.
You wish life could be simpler, but unfortunately that's not how it works.
So you have to learn how to get up, dust yourself off, and carry on like nothing ever happened.
