A broken heart

Never in her life had she experienced a broken heart.
Perhaps she'd come close a few times, she reckoned she could name a few.
Leaving Narnia.
Leaving her friends behind.
Maybe even leaving Caspian.
These things left her with close to a broken heart, not quite entirely shattered, but cracked around the edges.
She never thought she'd ever have to experience a broken heart.
But no one goes through life without experiencing it, but the broken heart Susan experienced was one of the worst to exist.
The loss of a family member is heartbreaking enough, but the loss of multiple at the same time will leave your heart shattered all over the floor, with no way of ever being able to patch it back up again.
Susan's heart would be broken for the rest of her life, because how could it not be?
She had lost everything that was most important to her, and she just could never recover from the pain that caused.
