The White Witch

"Ed?"

"Hmmm?"

Lucy stared at her brother for a moment, who seemed a bit distracted from his task of making his bed. "In dark island..." She said slowly. "Did you see something?"

Edmund turned to her after a moment, sighing. "Yeah I saw something." He muttered. "Or rather someone."

Lucy hesitated. "Who?" She asked, although she had a feeling she knew who already.

Edmund didn't say anything for ages as he sat down on the bed and started fiddling with his fingers, but eventually he opened his mouth. "The White Witch." He breathed.

Lucy bit her lip, sitting down beside him.

"I had honestly expected to see her I guess." Edmund found himself continuing. "They said we'd be facing our worst nightmares and deepest fears - I just, nothing could prepare me for it if you know what I mean."

Lucy nodded a little. "I reckoned it was probably her." She whispered. "But how come you didn't say anything?"

Edmund shrugged.

"You usually talk to Peter about this sort of thing." Lucy guessed after a moment.

Edmund looked down.

"And Peter's not here." Lucy sighed sympathetically. "I get it."

Edmund glanced at her. "He just usually knows what to say and do." He admitted.

Lucy smiled. "He's got a way hasn't he?" She agreed.

Edmund found himself smiling back. "Guess he does." He breathed.

"But don't forget I am here if you ever need me." Lucy told him. "I may not be Peter but I will try my hardest."

Edmund ruffled her hair softly. "Thanks Lu." He breathed.

Lucy chuckled. "Not a problem."
