Beyonce - I was here

***
I arrived class 30 minutes early considering my resident hall is a five minute walk to class. The day went smoothly. I somehow managed to find all my classes, arriving early in case I step into the wrong room but I didn't and I was quite proud of myself for that.

Walking from my last class for the day, a 3pm class which like all my other classes consisted of introductions and going through the syllable, toward my resident hall. A girl stops me and hands me a flyer. I accept it looking at it.

"Jesus loves you"

I smile. It was for a cru fellowship. I look over the back to see the time wanting to check it out. Someone crashes into me. I fall my books spilling out of my open backpack.

"I'm so ... you!" A male voice says bending down next to me.

I look up to see Nathan looking down at me a worried expression on his face.

"Are you okay? I'm so sorry," He says lending me his hands. I accept it. He pulls me up and stabilizes me, holding my arms he searches for wounds.

"I'm okay" I say smiling.

"I'm truly sorry, I am late and that never happens," He says in explanation.

"Then shouldn't you be hurrying along?" I ask smiling.

"Ah... yes!" He says turning to leave and then stopping.

He comes back and helps me pick my books.

"Don't worry I can handle this, I don't want to hold you up," I say not wanting to make him late. I hated being late to anything and wouldn't want to cause his first late offense.

"It's okay," He says picking up the books.

He places them in my bag.

"Hey, wanna come? If you're free," He says.

"For what?" I say.

"It's a volunteer work with kids from an orphanage close by, we volunteer each new semester opening there. Playing with the kids and such, plus you'll be my excuse for being late," He says smiling.

I chuckle.

"Sure! Why not?" I say.

"Cool," He says clapping his hands in joy.

"Let's take my car, it's across the street," He says, I follow him.
We walk across the street and get into his car.

"Sorry, I never got your name," He says, driving out.

"Hera," I say.

"Hera? The goddess?" He asks amused.

I smile nodding

"I'm no goddess though," I say.

He stops at the red light and looks at me.

"You're beautiful Hera," He says.

I smile feeling uncomfortable.

"Yet you're the one with the good heart doing great deeds like volunteering at an orphanage," I say.

"But you're with me," He says.

I wrap my hands around myself and look at the lights.

"It's green" I say thankful for the interruption. He starts driving, focusing on the road.

I never saw myself as pretty, I thought of myself as ugly. But I wasn't about to reveal all that to Nathan. We stay silent the rest of the way, each occupied with our own thoughts.

We arrive at the orphanage 5 minutes later. It was pretty close to school, I'm guessing that's why they chose it for volunteering.
As soon as we step in I see the kids all gathered in a room laughing. I smile.

"This way," Nathan says leading me towards the room with the children. As we get closer I hear a voice with an accent say.

"And bugs bunny said: ehhh what's up doc?"

I stop walking. It's not possible right? Why would he be here?

"You okay?" Nathan says looking back at me. I nod and hurry into the room. Seated in the middle, the children gathered around him, a book on his lap and a bright smile on his face is,

"Lexis?" I say.

"You know him?" Nathan asks as Lexis looks up and our eyes meet.

Do. I. Know. Him?
