"But what about Nate's parents? Tia's not Chinese," my mom asked.

Okay, we dealt with Tia's parents' inhibitions about Nate, but we still need with his parents' inhibitions about Tia. Interracial, I don't know if there is a term for different religions, relationships are complicated.

"I don't know. Actually, a few of my high school classmates actually married their Filipino girlfriends," I started. "Although they did, knock them up first."

My mom laughed, and then deadpanned, "They planned it."

"What?" I asked, surprised.

"Accidents," she huffed. "How else do you think their parents agreed to it?"

"Well, that's one strategy," I commented. Although, Tia has a lot to say about premarital sex.

Well, one thing about Chinese grandparents is that they will always welcome grandchildren, planned or accidents or planned accidents.
