Chapter 65: Testing Ice Powers

They made it to the lair and they went to do their own thing. Except Jamie. She went to the lab to see Donnie working on something.

"Hey Don?" she said.

He looked up as he answered, "Hey J. What's up?"

"Well, I was wondering that since we all just found out about my ice powers if...you could help me test them. I want to make sure that they won't be a threat to you guys," Jamie explained.

"We can, but you and your ice powers could never be a threat to us. Raph was telling us how you used them to save his life," Donnie responded.

Jamie blushed at that and they got to work. As she had different wires on her, Raph came in and was totally surprised.

"Whoa. What's all this about?" he asked.

"We're testing her ice powers," Donnie answered.

"And whose idea was this?" Raph wondered.

"Mine. I may have used them for good this time, but just finding out about them makes me wonder how powerful they can be. And I don't want it to make me a threat to you guys," Jamie responded, mumbling the last part.

Raph frowned a little at that. He went up to her and held her hands.

"Babe, you would never be like that to us," he said and to assure her of that, he added, "Hold your hands out, palms facing up."

She did so and without thinking, she made snowflakes appear.

"If it wasn't for you, I would've been cooked to well done. It's a beautiful gift and it's another thing that I can add to what I love about you. Don't be afraid of it; embrace it," Raph explained.

Jamie smiled as she made it stop then kissed her boyfriend. Then Donnie cleared his throat, making them stop and look at him.

"Sorry to interrupt the love fest, but I got some readings from just that little amount of energy," he replied.

"What did you get?" Jamie asked.

"Well, it seems that when the Kraang experimented on your mother, they tried to put her in a deep freeze like that creature we thought was April's mom. She had exposed scratches on her womb, which allowed cold air to get inside and allow you to have ice powers," Donnie explained.

"So it goes back to before she was born?" Raph asked.

"Yeah, pretty much. But it wasn't actually intended to happen. Your other powers, yes; but they weren't aware of the open wounds they inflicted on your mother when they put her in. And by the sound of it, after she managed to escape, you were born the next day," Donnie continued.

Jamie about passed out when hearing this. Raph caught her then helped get the wires off her.

"You think that was a little too much info to spill at once?" Raph asked, a little mad.

"I believe so. Sorry. Let her get some rest and when she's ready, I'll do more tests," Donnie replied.

Raph nodded and lifted Jamie bridal style and brought her to their room. He laid her on the bed, put the covers on her, and caressed her cheek.

"Raphael..." she whispered.

"I'm here, baby. Get some sleep," he instructed gently.

He was about to leave when he felt that she wasn't letting go of his hand; he looked at her, confused.

"Could you stay with me for a while?" she requested.

He smiled as he answered, "Sure thing."

He got under the covers with her then she snuggled into his plastron and kissed above his lightning-shaped crack.

"I love you, Raph," she whispered.

"I love you too, Jamie," he whispered back.

She started dozing off as Raph held her in his arms, feeling her warmth with a small chill that made him smile.
