Story 19: FaceTime

Sincerely Three

Zoe, bored and alone as fuck, took out her iPad. It was only 7 pm, so her friends would be awake, right?

Hopefully.

She went on FaceTime and dialed Jared's number.
At the second ring, Jared's face popped up on the screen.

"Hey Murphy." Jared nodded in hello.

"Hey Kleinsen. I'm bored."

"Same. Wanna play a game?"

"Sure. What?"

"We have to FaceTime all night. Loser buys breakfast tomorrow, winner decides the place."

"That's a great idea Jared."

Jared winked at the screen and whipped his hair. "I know, I'm a genius."

Zoe cleared her throat as she looked at her doorway.

"CONNOR MURPHY, COME OVER HERE!"

Zoe heard a groan and footsteps approach the door. She soon saw her brother in the doorway.

"What do you want?" Connor asked, clearly annoyed.

"Wanna play who can stay awake the longest with Jared, Alana, and Evan?"

Connor's face lit up as soon as his boyfriends were mentioned. He sprinted towards the iPad and plopped beside Zoe, seeing Jared at the screen and blowing him a kiss.

"Hi baby."

"Hey hottie." Jared responded.

They called Alana and Evan, and began the games.

It stated off well. They all cracked some jokes and talked about their day. At 11, however, little Evan couldn't take it anymore and fell asleep at his own desk, his hands over the keyboard of his computer.

"Guess we know who's paying." Zoe muttered.

"He's so cute." Jared cooed.

"Our boyfriend is so adorable." Connor smiled. Zoe elbowed him.

Alana then took out what seemed as a stack of papers.

"What are you doing?" Connor asked.

"Um, trying not to fall asleep." She responded, beginning to write some random stuff.

"No fair! I'm gonna do what makes me alert!" Jared screetched. He ran out of sight and came back with his phone and started looking throughout memes on the internet.

Zoe turned to her side as she saw Connor getting out some black nail polish and painting his nails. She shrugged and took out her own sharpies, coloring her arm.

They all stayed quiet after a while, but it was alright. Around the morning, a thump was heard. Zoe, Connor, and Jared rushed to look at the screen as they saw Alana's face hurried in her papers.

"Time of death- 1:30 am." Jared said.

"Welp, now it's just us." Zoe said, both of her arms decorated in sharpie. Her brother was now untying and re-tying the laces of his boots over and over again, and Jared was still looking memes.

"Let's see who wins." Connor smirked.

Staying awake was getting harder and harder. The three were tired, but wanted to win so badly. Evan and Alana's FaceTime was still on, both still out like lights. Zoe was now scrolling through her Instagram when she felt her brother's lean against her getting heavier. She looked beside her and saw Connor passed out.

"Jared." She whispered at the screen.

Jared looked up from his phone and saw Connor. His eyes softened at the sight and he let out a little 'aw'.

Zoe let her brother sleep against her, awaiting to make sure he was deep asleep. As soon as she heard his soft snores, that was her signal.

"Time of death- 3:30 am." She muttered.

Jared chuckled in response.

It was now 5 am. Both Zoe and Jared were the only ones left.

This was the final showdown.

Zoe was getting really sleepy, but tried her hardest not to show it so she wouldn't get Jared all hyped up. Connor had moved unconsciously, leaving his head in her back and he was still lying on the bed beside Zoe. Jared was playing around with his fingers, nodding off every now and then.

"Need some rest, Kleinman?" Zoe asked.

Jared slapped his cheeks to keep himself awake. "No, I won't lose to the hands of you, Murphy."

Zoe giggled drowsily as she doodled all over some random piece of paper she found under her bed.

After a few more minutes of more doodling, Zoe heard some additional snoring. She snagged a look and saw Jared leaned against his swivel chair, asleep.

"Yes!" Zoe whisper-shouted, before collapsing her head into her arms and passing out, leaving the computer on.

Sorry for lack of updating schedule, I've been really busy with school and family issues, and I'm trying to find time.

But merry early Christmas!
