No ship

Evan grinned as he turned a corner, seeing the hospital up ahead. He gripped the flowers in his hand excitedly. Today was Mother's Day, and he was gonna surprise his mother, Heidi Hansen.

That morning, Heidi woke up like usual and left to work. Evan pretended to be asleep as she kissed his cheek and left. Evan heard the door close and grabbed his jacket, buying flowers and walking to the hospital.

Heidi Hansen was such a wonderful mother, the sweetest thing out there. She always made sure Evan was her number one priority, even if she was exhausted or sick or not feeling the best. She gave him kisses and hugs and did the best she could to give him the best. Well, today was the day he was gonna pay her back.

Evan walked in the hospital, heading to the receptionist to ask where his mother ask. Before Evan could open his mouth, the lady spoke.

"Heidi Hansen, correct?" She asked.

"How did you know?" Evan asked her.

"You looks exactly like her, anyone can tell. She's down the hall to the left, sweetie. Go get her."

Evan gave her a thanks and went over to his mom. Usually, Evan was shy and awkward, but today, he was confident and ready, excitement through his veins.

Evan slowly and quietly opened the door and saw a bunch of nurses filling out some paperwork, seeming to be for some patients. In the corner, there she was- hair in a messy ponytail, coat draped along her.

The boy with the flowers tiptoed over, as Heidi wasn't expecting such a thing. She was too humble. Evan wrapped his around around he neck and gave her kisses on her cheek. "Happy Mother's Day, mom."

Heidi gasped and snickered, turning around and gave her son a great hug. Her mouth gasped open as her son handed her flowers. Sunflowers- her absolute favorite.

"You didn't have to.." Heidi said softly

"How couldn't I?" Evan smiled.

The nurses clapped as Evan gave his mom another hug. Heidi shedded a few tears as she hugged her son- already grown up, almost her height. He was the reason she could be a mother. He gave her the joy.

Cynthia woke up that morning, and stretched. There was no noise in the house, which was strange. There was yelling and clattering, usually.

She decided to walk out and scavenge the house. She knew Larry had work, but they were going to have dinner tonight. She searched for her kids- they weren't home.

She sighed. She only wanted her kids, they were growing too fast, and she wanted to celebrate today with them. She showered hesitantly and dressed, and decided to get groceries. Snatching her purse and phone, she left the house and headed to the car.

As Cynthia opened the car door, balloons popped out and flew out the door, flying everywhere. She peeked in the backseat, Connor and Zoe in the back.

"Happy Mother's Day, mommy!" Zoe exclaimed, then elbowing Connor who was on his phone.

"Oh, happy Mother's Day." Connor said.

Cynthia smiled and wiped a little tear, starting the car. "How long have you guys been here?"

"3 hours. We went to McDonalds." Connor said.

"Yeah, we got hungry." Zoe admitted.

Cynthia have a 'uh-huh' look and drove. But not to the grocery store, oh no, to more McDonalds. She wanted some fries.
