Chapter 5: So THAT'S the Survey corpse

 "YOU WHAT!?"

"I ate the rest of your bread sticks."

"BUT WHY!?"

"Because that was the only food we had left and I don't want to starve."

You confused? I'm guessing you are so let me explain. I've been stuck in this world for about a week now and I've been staying with two guys who kidnapped me named Reiner and Bertholdt. Unfortunately, the people here don't speak English so for the entire week, they have been teaching me how to speak German. Now, I can finally understand them, but that's not always a good thing because they figured out about my love for bread sticks. This may not sound like a bad thing, but it really just means they purposely eat all my food just to annoy me. They're also starting to treat me as a friend and not a prisoner. And thank goodness for that because I would probably be dead if they didn't. Anyways, back to my argument with Reiner.

"Don't try to annoy her Reiner," said Bertholdt.

We both looked at Bertholdt with a confused look.

"Why, it's fun," said Reiner.

"Well someone's out of character," I said sarcastically.

"Reiner, I know you don't know this so I'll warn you right now. Hato has the weirdest way of scaring people."

"Really?" said Reiner," Then let's see it."

I looked at Reiner with a really cold look in my eyes.

"Do you really want to see it?" I asked coldly.

Reiner looked at me a little surprised, but nodded his head. Before I could do anything, Bertholdt interrupted us.

"Guys, stay on high alert."

Reiner turned his head to look at Bertholdt.

"What do you...?"

"They're coming."

We looked at him confused, then we looked at were he was looking. There, in the middle of a field, were green smoke streaks coming from the ground and into the sky. Reiner looked a little surprised, yet happy about this.

"I see," said Reiner," What's the plan?"

I looked at them with confusion written all over my face.

"What plan? Who are they? What are you going to do with them? Are you going to hurt them? Are you going to kill them?" I asked quickly and loudly.

"Relax Hato. There is nothing to be worried about," said Bertholdt.

"Then what are you guys talking about?" I asked.

"Over there," Reiner started," is the only way we can figure out if the Survey corpse is coming from a safe distance."

"I see," I said," So THAT'S the Survey corpse."

"Correct," said Bertholdt," I'm surprised you've heard of them, since you are from outside the walls."

"I heard about them from a friend. She was in it I think," I said.

Reiner and Bertholdt looked at me surprised.

"Really?" asked Reiner.

"Yeah, her name was Petra Ral. She was a good person. Unfortunatlly I haven't heard from her in a while," I lied.

I couldn't let them know the truth of how I actually know Petra, so I had to lie. It would be to risky if I didn't.

"I see," said Bertholdt.

I looked over at them to see a worried expression on there faces.

"Uh, are you two ok?" I asked.

"Hm, oh yeah. Just thinking about something. Anyways, Reiner follow me," said Berthodlt.

Reiner nodded his head.

"And Hato, meet us at the tree in the center of the forest."

"Hai," I said.

"Ok, see you there," said Bertholdt.

And with that, Reiner and Bertholdt used there 3DMG to fly away, leaving me with my bag and 3DMG. I sighed and grabbed the gear and put it on. You see, over the past week, I'v been learning how to use this as well so in case of an emergency, I could handle myself. Anyways, I put my bag around my shoulder and started using the 3DMG to fly to the tree in the center of the forest. After a while, I got there and sat down on one of the highest branches. I put my bag down in front of me and pulled a box of pocky out of it.

"At least they never knew about my super secret stash of pocky," I said to myself.

I started eating a stick of pocky while playing Sister Location on my phone for about an hour before hearing horses under me. I turned my phone off and looked under me. There were people wearing the same outfits that Petra wore when I saw her. They were tying there horses to the bottom of the tree. When they finished, the one with long brown hair in a ponytail and glasses started talking.

"Alright, we'll camp here for the night," she said.

"Yes mam," everyone said while saluting like they were saying a pledge.

Everyone started unpacking stuff off of a wagon and started getting ready to rest for the night. I looked up at the sky and realized that the sun was setting. I sighed and quietly put my pocky box away. When I put it away, I heard a loud explosion. I put my bag around my shoulder and looked around. I didn't see any smoke, so what could have caused that sound. I then heard a lot of people shouting and using the 3DMG. I looked down to see everyone panicking and on the lowest branch on the tree, which is still pretty high up but you get the idea. The girl from earlier looked out in the direction they came from.

"It's a Titan Shifter," said one of the solders said.

"What do we do Squad Leader Hanji?" asked another.

They all looked at Hange for an answer, but she didn't say anything. She just looked really happy to be meeting a Titan Shifter. Everyone then sighed and looked at the direction the Titan Shifter was. They all suddenly look pale.

"It's the Armored Titan," said one solder.

'Armored Titan?' I thought.

I crouched down so that none of the solders could see me and I put my hood up so that if they did see me, they couldn't see my face. I looked around to see a Titan that for some reason looked very familiar for some reason.

"Reiner?" I asked quietly.
