THREE YEARS AGO

Hyunjin stood handsomely outside (Y/N)’s front porch in a dark blue suit that fitted him nicely, a cute bouquet of flowers in his hands and a smile on his face, his eyes turning into little crescent moons and the apples of his cheeks rising noticeably.

After almost five months of courting (Y/N), he plans to confess his love to her on the night of her sixteenth birthday. This was the first time Hyunjin had felt something so sincere for a girl, contrary to the playboy image he had establish ever since he stepped into Year 9.

“I can’t wait to see her,” said the boy as he bounced up and down on his feet, and the door opened. He expected it to be the girl he loves, but instead, her older brother showed up in the doorway.

“Hyunjin.” Chan said through gritted teeth.

“Uh...hey, hyung.” he gulped nervously. He knows that he and Chan aren’t on good terms, because he had a reputation of dating girls for a day and dumping them the next.

“Don’t,” growls the older boy as he glares at Hyunjin, “call me hyung. We’re not close.”

He gulps again, “I, uh...I’m here to see (Y/N)-”

“No, and she won’t see you ever again. You’re no good for her, seeing that you jump from girl to girl, playing with them. When you get what you want, you treat them like trash and throw them away like they’re dolls. And I’m not letting you do that to my sister. Even though you’ve been courting her for how long? Five months? That certainly doesn’t mean that I’m going to approve to the idea of you seeing her. So fuck off.”

Chan proceeded to close the door, but Hyunjin stuck his foot inside, his muscle sandwiched between the wooden door and the doorframe.

“Go away, Hwang. I don’t want to see you with (Y/N) ever again.” the curly-haired man said lowly, a dangerous tone dripping in his voice that made the younger pull his feet back. The door slammed right in front of his face.

Instead of leaving, Hyunjin walked to the marble pathway of the house and put his hands beside his mouth. “(Y/N)!” he yelled. “(Y/N)! It's me, Hyunjin!”

“HEY, KEEP IT DOWN.” a voice yelled from one of the neighbors, but Hyunjin couldn’t care less. He knew that when Chan says a word, he keeps it and does whatever it takes. Even if it means to hurt the ones he love the most, just to keep them safe.

He understood what he was coming from, but Hyunjin knew that he wouldn’t hurt someone he loves dearly on purpose. That would be suicide.

“Hyunjin?”

(Y/N) could not believe her eyes. The love of her life was here, underneath her in an abandoned house in the middle of an unknown street in a zombie apocalypse. She had never expected to see him in this state of the world, but here he was. Smiling up at her with dirt streaked across his face.
