Wishful thinking: an attitude or belief that something you want to happen will happen even though it is not likely or possible; the attribution of reality to what one wishes yo be true or the tenuous justification of what one wants to believe.

Moments may be consisted of different complex emotions—jubilee, despair, love, hatred, lust—but in the end, every single point of time will inevitably end. Time is ageless, and so is change. Everything has its own finish line, like stars that are born one second and die in the next, like candles that will burn out minutes later, like birthdays that only exist in a span of twenty-three hours and fifty-six minutes and only repeats once a year. But even though occasions like these fade over time like Polaroid photographs and colors on the rainbow, memories can replace them and engrave long-lasting images, pictures in motion etched in the brain of beauty or destruction for those who are given good treasure chests called memory to lock their keepsake.

Taking Hyunjin to the Philippines was one of those things, moments that she wanted to freeze and stay in forever but lasted for only a few seconds. From the long ass plane ride that took three hours and forty-five minutes, to the whole stay, to the long walks around the neighborhood where (Y/N) grew up in, the huge family gathering set up for their arrival, until the time came for their departure back to the southern region of the Korean Peninsula.

It was only then she realized that those moments that felt like mere seconds were too precious of memories, when time starts to run out like sand in an hourglass.

(Y/N) was sure she was doing this, all for Hyunjin, because moments and fate will only count until the final flight, and she hopes that even the littlest of snippets and the vaguest of the reminiscence will be painted permanently on his mind.

The trip started in the cool, mountainous edges of Tagaytay, where many Koreans reside, along with the original Filipino occupants being hospitable as always, to their fellow countrymen and to their foreign constituents, where her home is situated. They were originally supposed to be in Batangas, where (Y/N) was born and taken care of for fourteen years, but she and her whole family thought it would be more convenient if Hyunjin was brought to a cool place, an environment similar to the surroundings he grew up in. Perhaps he wouldn't go well in a hot, sunny day in the Philippines, whereas almost all places are being barbecued by the sun's powerful rays as it is located directly on the equator of the planet.

Her big family, with open arms filled with love and support, received them the moment they stepped forth in their house. When Hyunjin had, ever so shyly, introduced himself in English without the intention of being so damn adorable, (Y/N) can just tell how much her family adored him, to the point that they would really want him as their own son. Her parents admire, especially, his passion and drive not only for working his way to the top of being an idol but for her, his girlfriend, who stayed with him through all the hardships, through the ups and downs of every obstacle they went through. Her younger siblings could die for his aegyo (which she knows he hates doing so much, but he does either way to impress her family) and absolute cuteness. And when Hyunjin and her siblings would unite together to prank (Y/N), she wouldn't be annoyed, even in the least bit—how could she, when all she wanted to see was his bright smile that could light up the entire universe, that smile alone that could make her heart swell and overflow with love?

As life is known to be short and cruel, one could only steal the seconds to cherish and store away in his memories. And that's what (Y/N) and Hyunjin do during their stay, she would make him pose in silly acts and such so he would have something to remember their day by, to aid the older version of themselves and help them hark back to the good ol'days—the days she was around the one she loves the most, and not worry about tomorrow, only for today.

The couple traveled around the chilly mountainside, introducing Hyunjin to the Twin Lakes, all the while indulging in sweet Filipino delicacies. (Y/N) also brought the two of them to Sky Ranch, where they enjoyed the remaining hours of their three-day stay playing around, engaging in numerous rides, feasting on snacks, and most importantly, spending precious quality time with each other. Of course, they had to make most of the five days off given by Stray Kids' manager for them to relax after tiring months of practicing, producing songs, improving their vocal, dance and rap skills, dieting and whatnot.

Although, after all the childish fun, exploring the town isn't only what (Y/N) has to offer. With Hyunjin around, he takes her back to the rebellious years of her young and dumb teenage past; making out in alleyways when no one's watching, whispering sweet nothings and dirty talks when no one's listening, and when there's practically no one around, they would take advantage of random hidden places, where he, and only he, can make her moan, whimper, and writhe in pleasure.

With each second passing every hazy day, it kept (Y/N) distracted from all the insecurities and anxiousness that ate at her insides. She hates the way her mother looks at her pitifully all the while helping her take care of the mess she so desperately tries to fix, or the way her father acts like her problem is not present at all. The only thing she appreciates the least bit is the obliviousness of her siblings, Hyunjin's irrevocable condition unbeknownst to them.

And when the final day draws to an end, they fly back to South Korea to spend the remaining two days talking animatedly about the trip, the unforgettable moments.

Until, an accident happened.

All (Y/N) could do was sit and remember those bittersweet memories. As she rested on a green chair in a pearly white corridor, the morning sun starting to rise high up in the sky, marking the beginning of a new day, a new day to endure the sadness, pain, and longing. Seconds ticked by, and she stood upright.

Five.

She walks towards the room.

Four.

She pushes the door open.

Three.

She steps inside.

Two.

The chair creaks lightly under her weight as she takes a seat beside the hospital bed.

One.

"Who are you?"

"It's me, Hyunjin. It's your (Y/N)."
