Chapter 82: Beyond Reason

I shut my eyes tightly as I whispered to myself that I am probably just dreaming.

What did the investigator said? Tito Franz is the prime suspect in killing my brother?

Napadilat ako when I felt something bumped into me and before I realize it ay nagkakagulo na. Dad is being held back by four cops as he desperately tried to strangle Tito Franz who's still sitting behind the desk impassively.

"Walangya kang animal ka! Papatayin kita!" galit na galit na sigaw niya kay Tito Franz. Agad akong lumapit sa kanya at yumakap dahil pulang-pula ang mukha niya sa galit and even the veins on his temples are visible.

"Tito please, huminahon na muna kayo. We don't even know if it's true. Stop accusing dad of killing Rennan kung hindi pa naman yun napatutunayan" Blaise said as he looked at dad frustratedly.

I badly want to say something but I can't afford to think of anything. Naguguluhan ako. Bakit si Tito Franz ang sinasabi ng imbestigador na pumatay kay Rennan?

"What makes you think that he's the one who killed our brother? What did you find out?" Kuya GD asked in an eerily calm tone and it's scaring the hell out of me. I know that look. Alam kong nagtitimpi lang siya ng galit.

The investigator looked at me grimly then back at my brother again.

"Nahuli na yung riding in tandem na bumaril sa kapatid niyo at itinuro nila si Mr. Gandia" he said and even pointed Mr. Gandia who smirked and shook his head.

Blaise let out a cuss at that. "That is not true! Yes, we came from a family of gangsters but we don't kill innocent people! And for that matter, kambal ng girlfriend ko! You can't just take the words of those bastards!" he yelled then looked at me na para bang nakikiusap. When he's about to walk up to me, humarang sa gitna namin si Kuya CL and shot him a murderous look.

The investigator cleared his throat and looked at Blaise seriously. "Hindi lang yun ang basehan namin, Mr. Gandia. We found another evidence that linked your father to Rennan Fonacier's death. We found a phone near their business office that contains messages kung saan nakikipagtext ang daddy mo sa mga inutusan niyang patayin si Rennan Fonacier. We had that phone under fingerprint analysis and the fingerprints found there belongs to Mr. Francis Zian Gandia. It will be presented on the court. Hindi lang yun, the time and date matches sa araw at oras na binaril si Rennan"

Nobody spoke after that. Gustohin ko man na magsalita ay hindi ko talaga kaya. Everything is just too much to take in.

The person who killed my brother is the father of the man I love? No, how can I deal with that?

"At ano naman ang magiging rason ni daddy para ipapatay si Rennan? You tell me.." naghahamon na tanong ni Blaise roon sa imbestigador. He's obviously not buying everything he's saying.

Sa totoo lang, ako rin naman ay ganun. It's not that I am being biased dahil tatay siya ng boyfriend ko. It's just.. it doesn't make any sense. Aside that I know that he's a good person, wala rin akong naiisip na dahilan para gawin niya yun.

"Base roon sa mga messages na nabasa ko, Mr. Gandia at sa pag-iimbestiga namin.. it's about business. Apparently, your father and Rennan Fonacier were business partners and they're bound to close a deal with an Arab sheikh kung saan ilang milyon ang kikitain. Lumalabas na gustong solohin ng tatay mo ang kita kaya pinapatay niya si Rennan"

I looked at Tito Franz pero wala pa rin siyang kibo. Naikuyom ko ang kamao ko. Bakit hindi niya ipinagtatanggol ang sarili niya? For heaven's sake he's being pointed as a murderer pero nagagawa niya pa rin kumalma ng ganyan?! Kung ako ang nasa kalagayan niya, nagwawala na ako!
