"Calm down." Niall whispers in my ear.

"I can't help it." I say as I bounce my knee up and down. It seems to bother Niall, because he places his hand on my knee to keep it still. I smile sheepishly and say, "sorry."

"You would think that you are the one who is having the surgery." Niall chuckles. He thinks my nerves are hilarious.

"Laugh it up chuckles." I playfully glare.

Niall gives my knee a light squeeze and goes back to reading the sports magazine. I look around the spacious waiting room. This doctor's office has pictures of flowers, mountains, forests, and other wilderness things. It seems like the interior design is going for the calming effect, but its failing.

"Niall Horan?" A short girl with light blue scrubs says. I look over at her and notice her long hair is parted and has two braids. I see Niall standing up so I quickly stand up and then help him up rest of the way. When we reach the nurse she glances at me and says, "only family members beyond this point. No friends allowed."

"Considering I'm going to be in charge of his recovery and be with him twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. I am more than a friend." Who does this girl think she is?

"Okay then." The nurse puts a big smile on her face and takes us back to a private room.

I sit in the corner and do my best to ignore her. She takes Niall's vitals and asks him about his pain. Shortly after she tells us that the surgeon will be in soon and then leaves.

"Jess, are you picking fights with the nurses?" Niall asks amused.

"That was not my fault," I exclaim. "That twelve year old nurse was the one who started it."

"Jess," Niall laughs. "She was just following protocol and you bit her head off."

"No, she was implying that I meant nothing to you and she was going to flirt with you." I scoff at the idea of the nurse and Niall. "She should be fired for being so unprofessional."

"I think you are wound up and are ready to fight with anyone." Niall smirks at me. "Good thing you are cute or this would be so embarrassing."

"Niall stop," I whine. "She really was going to flirt with you." Niall shakes his head at me. "I'm not imagining things."

"Sure babe." Niall says as he leans back onto the bed.

Instead of arguing with Niall, because I know he could be right I lean back in my chair. There is a slight possibility that I am overreacting. Maybe that nurse isn't interested in Niall. I doubt it, but it could be true.

Dr. Smith walks into the room and I smile at her. Her long blonde hair is in a high ponytail. Her white coat covers her outfit. I think its interesting that she is wearing dress pants with a dark purple blouse. If I was a doctor I would wear scrubs all the time. Dr. Smith is such a boss babe. I have only talked to her a few times, but each time I am so impressed with her.

"Hello Niall and Jess. It is good to see you both. Are you ready for tomorrow?" Dr. Smith smiles at the both of us.

"I think I'm more ready than Jess is." Niall smiles widely at me.

"The girlfriend is always a nervous wreck. That means she cares." Dr. Smith winks at Niall. "Instead of teasing her you should be grateful."

"I will get right on that." Niall jokes. We all know how grateful Niall is.

Dr. Smith then gets to work. She explains to us what we should expect tomorrow. She then looks at Niall's knee and touches it. She then asks Niall lots of questions about the last few months. I sit here silently just listening to them. I'm surprised when Niall says his pain has been really bad and it has kept him from sleeping. Not once has he mentioned any pain to me or acted like he was in pain. Dr. Smith tells Niall that's normal and soon that pain will be gone. When Dr. Smith seems satisfied she tells us that she will see us tomorrow and then she leaves.
