Two sets of lips on a Pepsi-Cola
In the middle of the summertime heat you kept it cool
We were West Coast kids ridin' round in your Chevy Nova
Said you'd come back for me when you had to leave to go back to school

I met him in the Summer. We met when he tried surfing on the beach. Yeah...total fail on that one. He couldn't surf for the life of him. We officially met though, when Luke introduced us together. That's when the real fun began.

But we were like fire
Summer breeze, seventies, all-nighter
Let the beach be the background choir
Singing like oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
We were like a movie
Said I looked to good in that two-piece
And for those three months you knew me
Remember those, remember those nights?
We were like
Yeah, we were like

The days after were full of laughter, crying, and singing. He complimented on how I looked, making sure he didn't forget a detail. Even though we knew each other for 3 months, I had never...well...you'll know soon enough.

Bare feet and blue eyes on the boardwalk
We were counting the stars and the days 'til you had to go
Since then nobody ever made my heart stop
Like you did when we lived in that summer glow

I never felt like that before. Every time I was with him....it was like I was dying. Dying from my own love of him. He was so sweet, so kind. He was also very funny. Until he became famous...and he was gonna go on tour with One Direction...

'Cause we were like fire
Summer breeze, seventies, all-night we
Let the beach be the background Choir
Singing like oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
We were like a movie
Said I looked too good in the two-piece
And for those three months you knew me
Remember those, remember those nights?
We were like
Yeah, we were like

We didn't really hang out after that. And even years passed since we did. I was afraid to text, afraid to call. Because I was just a short mishap within his past. A tiny reflection, not meant to be remembered. He was getting more famous, and I felt like I was a little germ, left in his mind. But, not all sad love stories, have a sad ending.

Slow dance, romance, sundress, sunshine
Your name, cool rain, so good 'til goodbye
We were like

When I saw him inside a café, was when I almost freaked. I saw him, ordering the same thing he always had before. The same thing. And when he saw me, was when I wanted to run out of the place. But I didn't. I stayed put, and he came over.

We were like fire
Summer breeze, seventies, all-nighter
Let the beach be the background Choir
Singing like oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
We were like a movie
Said I looked too good in that two-piece
And for those three months you knew me
Remember those, remember those nights?
We were like
Yeah, we were like

It was silent for a moment. But only for a moment. Afterwards, we began talking about everything. Everything and anything. How he had been, how I'd been. What I was up to these days, and even our pasts.

Slow dance, romance, sundress, sunshine
Your name, cool rain, so good 'til goodbye, yeah

We talked about how he missed hanging out with me, and that he wished he somehow got ahold of me through the years. How he missed me. And I was shocked, how me, a tiny gap within his life, he missed so much.

Tan skin, golden tattoo, your smile
The end, pretend forever for a while
We were like

Then, what came next shocked me. He leant forward, kissed my cheek, and smiled. Saying he wanted to take me somewhere. And as I did, and it felt like the old times.

Hey there! So just to leave a note, the song above is a country song by Kelsea Ballerini. Just so all you non-likers of country know. I don't mind Country. Not my FAVORITE type of music, but I'll deal with it if a friend likes it. Sand the Chainsmokers made a new thing! Okay, bye guys! Mwah!
