Chapter 48

(Okay, so real quick note. I'm gonna skip episodes sixteen and seventeen, and episode nineteen. So the plan is go right into eighteen and then jump right to twenty. If that upsets anyone, I apologize, but for my story I don't need those episodes in the story. Anyway, with that out of the way, here we go!)

Starscream's P.O.V.

I growled as I scanned through the information source humans called the 'internet' hoping to find something I could obtain or use, such as the Apex armor. Unfortunately, I was having little success, and I was growing impatient.

"This is what the humans call the information superhighway? A trillion gigabytes of data; none of it useful!" I snapped. I was quickly distracted by an Earth creature called a monkey dancing in a strange outfit, making funny sounds. It was so bizarre I couldn't help but smirk.

"Though some oddly engrossing...." I murmured as I chuckled. I quickly moved along to the next few images....until I locked onto something familiar. 

"What is this?" I further enhanced the image, my optics widening when recognizing a certain red gem that apparently humans had discovered at a dig site. I couldn't help but laugh, feeling beyond eager at the opportunity.

"Ignorant life forms have no idea what they've uncovered. Red energon!" I couldn't help but place a hand on the screen, imagining the material within my own claws. "If I can possess its power, not only will I be stronger, but also faster. Significantly faster!"

Le time skip

I didn't hesitate to leap out of the ground bridge, pointing a missile at my surroundings with one arm while the other hand held the Apex armor.

"The red energon is mine humans! For you are powerless in the face of the might Star- what?" I looked around....only to see an empty dig site.

"Where is it?!" I looked around a bit before growling in anger, clenching my fists.

"Well that's just splendid! They probably relocated my red energon to somewhere else! Now I have to track it down and find it again! GRRRGH SON OF A-"

Le time skip

"Ugh, it took all day, but I've finally located it." I muttered, walking through a human's transport dock. It took me all day to find this place, and the night sky rained down its darkness upon the world. I was tired and frustrated, and was in no mood to waste anymore time. However I perked up when I saw the familiar red glow in a crate, held high on a crane.

"Found ya!" I said. However as I looked down, my optics widened to see three Autobots below. They kept their attention towards the energon, seemingly unaware of my presence. Wait, they came for my red energon didn't they?! No way! I worked too hard to find this, so I will be the one to take it away.

"Run along home Autobots," they looked to me with blasters ready the moment I spoke, "That red energon has my name all over it!" I stated, putting on the Apex armor. I let the armor do its job, completely covering my body and making me taller. I couldn't help but feel so powerful in this armor. I wonder if I could defeat Megatron with this armor? That's something I'll keep in mind for the future.

"And I am more than willing to fight for it." I stated with a sly smirk.

"Secure the red energon and have Ratchet bridge it back to base." Optimus stated. Arcee and Bumblebee nodded, and then ran to the crane, climbing up the ladder in a hurry to get to the top. I would've gone after them but I felt the need to dispose of the Prime first. I charged forward, the heavy footsteps of my suit making those loud thuds below my feet.

He tried blasting at me, but of course the blasts only bounced off. When that didn't work he struck two powerful punches to my chest, but it gave me the chance to grab him and throw him aside, smashing into boxes. 

"Don't tell me you've already forgotten our last encounter, Prime." I said. With Optimus down momentarily, I turned my attention to the two Autobots climbing up the crane. I didn't hesitate to march after them and climb up as well. I couldn't help but chuckle as the three of us got higher.

"The higher you climb, the harder you'll fall." I stated. Arcee made it to the top first, and ran straight towards the red energon. Bumblebee was next, but he stayed behind to blast at me. I only laughed as his pathetic attacked bounced off my armor and left me unphased. 

"Autobots, such slow learners." I said. Bumblebee was forced to back away as I came to the top, continuing to blast at me. However I merely shoved him aside, knocking him over away from me. I slowly approached Arcee, who was kneeling down and trying to reach out to the red energon. 

"Time to unload some more dead weight." I said. However her gaze quickly changed to her left, and I followed her gaze. I was introduced to the silhouette of the Prime climbing a different crane. Suddenly he leaped high into the air, fist held up....and then there was a hard punch to my face. I yelped as I stumbled back, then fell off the crane. I reached out for something to grab onto, surprised I had grabbed onto the crate that contained the red energon. My optics widened as I saw the red material. It was right there, just within reach....

My grip was starting to slip, and the armor was too heavy to support. I didn't hesitate to grab onto the red energon, only to tear off a large chunk before falling. However the red energon slipped out of my hand mid air, and I couldn't grab onto it again.

"NO! AAAH!" I cried as I smashed onto the ground, crashing with a hard thud. I groaned, quickly standing back up. I looked up, seeing the Autobots getting closer to my red energon. I growled in rage. I won't let them touch my energon! I reached underneath the large crane and lifted it up effortlessly, shaking the large structure.

I watched as the Autobots struggled to stay on top of the crane, making me smirk. I was tempted to just flip the whole thing over, Autobots on board. However my attention shifted to a ground bridge that opened beside me.....and a nice looking white car came flying through, with blue streaks on it. It transformed, revealing to be a new Autobot I didn't recognize, and a younger one at that.

"So the Autobots have a new recruit." I said, putting the crane back down.

"And you must be Starscream. I thought you would be taller." he said. I growled at the insult. 

"Smokescreen, stand down! You are no match for Starscream's Apex armor!" Optimus called.

"Any last words, Smokescreen?" I asked. 

"Just four; kiss your armor goodbye." he said with a smirk before running towards me. I couldn't help but be puzzled by his sudden charge....until he kicked me in the chest, phasing through my armor and kicking me out of the armor and skidding across the ground. I looked at the Autobot in shock.

"A phase shifter?" I said. When did they get that? Was that one of the relics they obtained?

"Now that was a plan." Smokescreen stated as the armor fell over. My brain worked furiously to try and come up with a plan. What now? I was vulnerable and outnumbered. I looked beside me....seeing the chunk of red energon I had ripped out laying within reach. I quickly stood up with my new plan in motion.

"You are aren't the only one sporting a fancy wrist mounting device," I pointed my missile towards the rest of the red energon, "Think fast!" I stated. I made my shot, blasting the rest of the red energon to bits. The explosion erupted above us, and deciding to not stay for the aftermath, I grabbed at the energon and opened a ground bridge with my remote, and hurried back to the Harbinger.
