Jisook Baek was born on the 23th of February, 1998. She was 16 when she died.
Jisook was the eldest child of her family, only having one younger brother. She had a good relationship with him, and they often watched cartoons together. Her best friend was her mother. Jisook was described as kind and understanding, she never asked for anything. Her ultimate dream was to become a police officer, so she could help people.
During the sinking, she borrowed her friend's phone have one last call with her mother at 9:50am. ''If you go to the deck, they will rescue you.'' Her mother said to her before she hung up. Jisook decided to obey the stay in your cabins command instead. When her body was recovered, her mother noticed a wristwatch Jisook had wore during he sinking. It was still working, and her mother started using it herself.
Jisook now rests at Hwaseong Sky Memorial Park.
