Seongbin Kim was born on the 2nd of February, 1997. He was 17 when he died.
Seongbin had an older brother he had a two year age gap with. They grew really close as time went on. Seongbin had injured himself pretty badly after crashing his bicycle accidentally, and he worried on making a similar mistake, and making his parents worried again. Seongbin loved taekwondo and had won prizes in the field, but he dreamed of going to college and major in electric engineering.
On the 13th of April, his father had taken the last picture of his son. He was going to a surgery because of his lung cancer, and wished Seongbin a good field trip. Because his parents were at the hospital on the 16th day, Seongbin's uncle helped him with packing. ''If the ferry starts tilting, you have to go to the deck no matter what. The ferry won't just suddenly adjust back up,'' his uncle advised. Seongbin left for the trip. His father had the surgery on the same day.
His body was recovered and returned to his family. He now rests at Hwaseong Sky Memorial Park, next to his beloved father, a year after the disaster.
