Minseong Kim was born on the 21th of April, 1997. He was 16 when he died.
Minseong was the youngest child of his family. He adored his sister from a young age, and grew up practicing taekwondo, showing talent in the sport. He also became passionate of kickboxing when he grew older. He really loved excercising, staying up to midnight. He was also good at enduring pain, and never hit his friends' back. He also spent time at the school's TOP club, and volunteered at retirement homes. Minseong was described as caring and deep. His ultimate dream was to become a soldier and protect his country.
Minseong was hesitant about going to the trip. His dad encouraged him, and gave him 30 000 won to spent at the ferry. Minseong left with a bright smile, promising to return by his 17th birthday. After the sinking, Minseong kept appearing in his mom's dreams. She recalls cooking rice for him, seeing him with her grandparents, and in one dream, Minseong told her ''Mom, I'm going to school now, but I don't have an uniform.'' All the uniforms were burned.
His body was recovered and returned to his parents. He now rests at Ansan Sky Memorial Park.
