Just a quick question...

Is there anything you would particularly want to happen in this story to do with the plot or characters?

-obviously I already know the important things e.g. the ending, etc but it would be quite interesting to hear what you guys would like!

[ 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 ]

I glanced at Jungkook, my whole body slumped in sympathy. He'd spent a good hour telling me about his previous life in the American laboratory and I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming amount of pity, I knew he'd cared about the other boys but this was different. They were his lifeline. His everything.

"Why did you tell me all this?" I questioned, my voice faltering slightly as I tried to blink back tears. My mother always told me that I was too soft-hearted and the reality of the statement had only just hit me.

Jungkook looked at me blankly, void of any emotion. "You wanted to know."

I rolled my eyes. "I mean that much was obvious but you've spent the majority of the time you've known me in absolute silence and then, when you decided to actually talk to me, you were insistent that you'd never reveal anything. Why the sudden change?"

"Taehyung." He didn't reply for a second before he decided to continue. "You told me that they'd found Taehyung's location and that he must be here for a reason- me. You also said you'd do anything to get me out, is that true?"

I nodded hastily. He sighed, running an aggravated hand through the long curls of his dark hair. "I want to get out more than anything, don't get me wrong but if it puts my hyungs in danger there is no point. It can't be a simple transaction or trade, it's either we all get out or nothing. I won't let my hyungs experience this."

I smiled softly and placed a hand on his that lay limply on his thigh. His hands were warm, as a result of his otherworldly body temperature, but the heat wasn't uncomfortable. In fact, it was rather soothing. As I ran my hands over the callouses on his palms and soothed small circles into the soft skin, I spoke again. "I admire you Jungkook. The loyalty that you and your friends share is unparalleled. I've never had anyone care about me that much and so, I guess that I don't really understand your commitment. I promise that I'll get you out of this prison and your friends will be fine, even if it takes me years."

I held up my pinkie for him to lock the promise, an action that never failed to cheer me up. He scoffed but chuckled as he returned the action, our pinkies intertwined in an unspoken agreement. I couldn't help but beam. Were we friends now? Or partners with a common goal in mind? Either way, it didn't matter to me. All I had wanted was some kind of communication with this boy and I'd never expected him to be so open to my advances. This was a step in the right direction.

"What happened after you escaped?" I asked, voice almost a whisper as I pulled my pinkie away from his.

He exhaled but didn't hesitate to continue his story. "Yoongi's plan worked like a treat. However, we quickly realised that we'd been too hasty in escaping that we didn't realise that the hardest part of our journey would be fitting into civilisation. For me and Jin especially, who couldn't remember anything of his previous life, we hadn't the slightest idea of anything. Calling a taxi, buying some food from a convenience store, purchasing aeroplane tickets were all foreign to us. Plus they all required money and we didn't even have a penny between us."

I must admit, I'd also forgotten about money. When Jungkook had been telling me his grand escape plan, I'd also been blind to the issue of what would actually happen after. They were still just kids at the end of the day.

"So, what did you do?" I asked, the words spilling out before I even realised I had spoken them. I hadn't realised how invested I was in his tale.

"There was a scientist at the facility who managed to track us to a railway bridge, which we'd been resting under. It was disgusting." He shuddered. "I never want to see a rat ever again. At first we thought he was an enemy, sent from the laboratory to hunt us down, but apparently luck was on our side. He took us in and bought us tickets back to Korea. We weren't cheap but he provided for us, for years."

"What happened to him?" My curiosity was peaked. If this scientist was accessible, he could help us to find the rest of Jungkook's friends. Jungkook saw my hopeful look and scoffed lightly.

"Don't get too excited, he left a year before I was taken. He probably has about as little idea to their location as I do."

"You truly have zero idea where they are?"

"Of course not, we stayed in a number of houses over the years and it wouldn't be surprising if they camped out there for a while. But if they were smart, and Namjoon is, they wouldn't stay in one place for very long. In reality, they could be anywhere in the country."

"They said your friend, Taehyung, was in Busan. Do you think he'll be caught?"

"I'd be more worried if it was anyone else but Taehyung is great at slipping away, they won't catch him. Even the Captain isn't that skilled." He nodded in certainty.

My mind flashed to my conversation with Jeno a few days prior and I felt my whole body shudder. The rumours about the 'Captain' were bad enough, the fact that he actually existed made the hairs on the back of my neck stand tall.

I gulped. "So, you've met him?"

"Who? The Captain? Of course I have, he likes to make my life a living nightmare. He has a grudge against us for some reason unknown to me. He's made that abundantly clear over the past year with his 'presents'."

"Presents?"

Jungkook gritted his teeth but turned around so that his back faced me. With a couple of mutters, he began to pull up his T-shirt and expose the plains of his back.

"Woah! What are you doing? Why are you taking your shirt off?!"

He turned his head around and simpered slightly. "Don't get too excited. Just look."

I warily opened one eye but when I witnessed the rumoured 'presents', my eyes shot open as I leaned in closer.

Covered all over his back, were faint red lines that crisscrossed in patterns over his skin. Some had darkened with age whereas some stood out, the red scars clashing with the colour of his skin.

I was undoubtedly horrified. I knew MediHeal didn't exactly treat Jungkook humanly but I didn't expect them to beat him.

"Are they allowed to do this!" I exclaimed, running a finger across one of the less inflamed marks. He shivered at the cold finger running across his warm skin but didn't complain. Eventually he pulled away and shrugged his shirt back down and faced me.

"Probably not. I can't really do anything about it."

Without thinking about it, I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around his stomach in a hug. He was so tall in comparison to me that my head only reached the underside of his chin. I knew I probably shouldn't be hugging a person who could snap my spine with the slightest touch but now I'd been exposed to the real truth, I was never going to change my mind. There was going to be no more messing around, no more hesitation on my part. MediHeal Laboratories were the monsters and they were going to pay.
