"So, you're finally here," a voice said behind him.
Ethan whipped his head around to see a dark figure behind him. He came closer and he realized it was a man with a cloak on. It felt like it was supposed to be a dream, a black void of darkness all around him. Except, he felt fully conscious.
"Where is this?" Ethan asked.
"Why would I tell you that?" the man rolled his eyes.
He pointed a laser gun directly at Ethan.
"You know something I don't."
"You can't touch her," Ethan said firmly.
The man chuckled.
"I couldn't care less about her."
"Sure."
He shot the laser gun. It didn't hit Ethan completely. It barely grazed his arm. Ethan kept a hand over his arm.
"You're special, kid."
What an original line, Ethan thought.
"You just don't know it yet."
Ethan blinked, and suddenly he was on the floor of the room.
It was a dream, it was a dream, he told himself.
Then he remembered something.
It wasn't a dream.
"Ethan?"
Nova speeded by his side.
"What happened? And why are you on the floor-"
"Did something happen to you?"
"No..."
"Nothing...strange?"
"What are you going on about-"
Ethan's arm caught Nova's attention.
"What the hell happened to your arm?"
"That's a good question," Ethan mumbled.
"What could have possibly done this? Other than..."
She looked at Ethan.
"Nevermind. That can't be it."
"It's fine," Ethan told her.
"Are you an idiot? That's no small scratch," She scowled.
"It doesn't even hurt," Ethan assured her.
That was a total lie. It hurt like hell.
"Right," Nova said skeptically.
"Are you going to bandage it or?" Nova asked.
"I'll do it later."
"You have to keep it on for a total of like, five minutes."
"Those kinds of bandages are expensive. Are you sure Jade has them?" Ethan asked.
"Of course she has them," Nova said.
She walked out and found Jade on her smart pad in the main room.
"Hey Jade, random question, do you have any bandages?" Nova asked.
