Enma - Romantic or platonic oneshot (Your choice, but it's implied to be romantic)

Requested by I need to write about serious yet dorky Enma more. She's a cold hearted bitch till you get to know her

Word Count → 1337 words

Warnings/Notes → I though I was being clever about her oshi mark. I thought the dice emoji suited her perfectly, but no! Bae had to debut and snick that form underneath my nose and now Enma gets the sword emoji (which I should've used in the first place, but whatever), so there's that little tidbit of knowledge for you.

Reader has just joined Hololive and is nervous about debuting, for a little context.

(I have also completely rewritten most of this chapter because Enma deserves more love).

━━━━━━━

"Calliope, what's the situation?" Enma pushed up her glasses, assessing the situation with tired eyes and resting bitch face. Beside her stood Calliope Mori, Hololive's very own reaper and or alcoholic. In front of her was the newest generation of Hololive English, accompanied by a few of their senpais.

But the main problem was you, or more specifically, your most recent freak out. With the nearing dates of the debut streams, the more the tension grew. Everyone was scrambling to get last minute shit and preparations done, meanwhile you just got more and more panicked as the stress was piled on your poor, aching back. You always talked about how much you'd wanted to join Hololive, but even the fact that you'd gotten your dream job didn't stop the nerves that kept plaguing you.

Apparently all those emotions had bubbled over, and since Enma had taken you under her wing for the time being (until you got your own manager for your gen), she'd taken it upon herself to make sure everyone was running smoothly and everything was hunky dori. As best as she could, anyway. She wasn't a miracle worker, that was Jenma's job, after all.

Now Enma wouldn't lie, because she just couldn't put the effort into lying when she had so much other shit to do, but she had gotten attached to you over the time she'd spent supervising and heling you. But, it wasn't necessarily her fault, because you were always annoyingly persistently polite to absolutely everyone, including Calli's demon sorceress manager, and, more specifically, caffeine addict and katana-wielding Enma. There was also Jenma, but seeing as you weren't a devil or demon or ooky spooky being of any kind (at least, not that they knew) Jenma was friendly right from the get-go.

The angel was always happy to talk to you, go over the stuff you needed to know before debuting. Getting you the gear you needed for streaming, arranging team bonding sessions to build chemistry between you and your new genmates, yada yada yada and all that good stuff. Enma, on the other hand, preferred to remain short and to the point, efficient and quick at getting things done.

But over time, much like Kiara did with Calli, you'd worn down Enma into becoming friendlier to you by day, like an annoyingly happy little particle that danced around her ear. Daresay the caffeine deprived manager had grown a little crush on you, or maybe you'd daresay that you were just the only person she would actually tolerate. But anyway, that was enough of that.

"(Name)'s pre debut nerves have gotten hella out of hand, and ya boi's gotta admit, I'm a little worried for them," Calli guh'ed nervously. "We've all tried comforting them, but, eh, nothing's really worked," Calli sucked her teeth, just watching you like a concerned parent. Enma just frowned and sighed, adjusting her glasses before she finally turned to look at the reaper.

"Can you clear the room? I'll deal with (Name)" Enma said coolly, like she was planning on shanking you and just quickly hiring in some poor shmuck to fill your spot. Calli glanced at her nervously, not entirely sure what Enma 'dealing' with you entailed (for all she knew, Enma could've just straight up decapitated you if she wanted. It wouldn't of been the first time the manager had used brute force to get things done, after all). Well, it was either that or she'd chug several coffees over it and get a migraine. But that was par for the course

But Calli just nodded and did as the manager asked, shooing everyone but you out of the room with the help of Fauna and her gentle prodding. You, shaking furiously with your head hidden in your hands, didn't notice anything at all.

"Good luck." Calli gave Enma a friendly pat on the back as she left, closing the office behind her. Enma took a deep breath and shook the stiffness from her wrists and grabbed the hair tie, pulling it expertly with her fingers till her messy locks of black and red were expertly tied up into a somewhat pulled together ponytail.

Without saying anything, Enma kneeled down in front of you, gently pulling your hands away from your creased face, finally revealing your eyes to the scenery around them. Compared to yours, her hands were much more calloused and rough from years of sword wielding and scolding cups of coffee, and they certainly felt more dexterous, intertwining around your own with expert precision.

"What's the matter, (Nickname)?" Through your tears, you smiled softly hearing the goofy little nickname Enma only used when it was you two, because she was just tsundere like that. She always dropped the stone cold bitch act around you, becoming a soft little stabby person when the two of you were alone. She probably wanted to keep up the look of badass, stone cold manager that could and would cut you in half perfectly.

"Ah... Usual pre debut jitters..." You took a deep, shaky breath. "I just keep having all these negative thoughts about it. Like, what if the fans don't like me? What if they think I'm boring? I just know I'm gonna tank and my gen's gonna go on without me..." You sucked in a breath between your teeth. "Just... Just all these thoughts..." You mumbled the last part to the floor. Enma grimaced, holding your hands a little tighter.

"Hey, don't think those thoughts. If you do, I'll have to... force you to see how amazing you are..." She blanked, almost slipping and saying something along the lines of 'I'll slit the throats of your worries till none are left standing', but somehow she guessed that violence would not solve this problem. Though, it might make you laugh.

She paused briefly.

"Listen, I'm not great at cheering people up, but I know you'll be great," Enma allowed herself to be a little softer and gently wiped away a few stray tears running down your cheeks.

You didn't say anything and simply let your tears dissolves into hiccups, taking deep breaths in accordance to Enma's instructions. The manager was rubbing circles on your open palms, helping you calm down.

"You smell like coffee..." Your voice was small, but Enma still heard the smile in your tone, albeit a very soft one. She scoffed jokingly, cracking a rare smile herself that just eased your jitters somewhat.

She stood up, offering a hand to you.

"C'mon, lets get you some water, it should help with your dry throat." Just like that, her stony demeanour was back. You took her hand, standing up next to the manager, letting your fingers lace with hers. It prompted a small blush out of her, to which Enma scowled and lead you out of the door like the tsun tsun kuudere* she was.

*I feel like instead of a tsundere, EnMa would be a kuudere, at least with the definition I found.

A Kuudere (クーデレ), sometimes written as Kūdere or just Kudere, refers to a character who is often cold, blunt, and cynical. They may seem very emotionless and stoic on the outside, but on the inside they're very caring, at least when it comes to the ones they love.

However, I feel she would have a hint of tsundere somewhere in her heart. I just feel it.
