Ookami Mio x !GN!Reader

Fluff

The first idea I had for Mio's chapter has been put on hold since I didn't really want to have it as Mio's first chapter in this book. I'll probably finish it after Calli's chapter, so another Mio one to look forward to.

For some reason, Mio's cat Taiga, loved you. Despite being a rambunctious punk of a ragdoll cat, she always sought you out whenever you were at Mio's. You were both surprised when the cat would rub against you purring, or when she started loafing next to you on the couch or showed you any affection that wasn't playful biting since she had always been a trouble maker.

But it was a welcomed surprise and led to chill afternoons with the three of you hanging out together. Mio was dozing off on the couch while you were playing with Taiga, having gotten her an assortment of new cat toys over the months you and Mio started dating. 

Taiga was furiously battering at a feathered toy on a string, obviously enjoying the way you would flail it around. Though some minutes later she became disinterested. You were a little confused until you noticed the time, and you sighed while shaking your head fondly. She may love playing with you, but that cat's stomach always came first.

Mio casually flicked one of her ears as you passed by her, giving you a sleepy smile as you did. You paused and gave her a few headpats, smiling as she relished in the attention. You could somewhat hear her tail thumping against the couch.

"Glad to see you're getting some shut eye" You murmured quietly. Mio just hummed in response and laid her head back down, closing her eyes. Without thinking, you slipped your hoodie over you head, draping it over Mio.

Meanwhile, Taiga was meowing loudly in the kitchen as she pawed at the locked cabinets. You gently nudged her to the side, unlocking the cabinet and taking out a tin of cat food. You opened it with some difficulty and shuffled over to Taiga's food bowl, trying your hardest not to step on her as she weaved between your legs.

As soon as you stepped away from the now full bowl, Taiga instantly fell quiet as she began eating, leaving you to throw away the tin. As you were doing so, you heard a few weird noises coming from the living room. You looked over in confusion to see a fluffy black tail lying on the floor, twitching from side to side.

You approached slowly, wondering if something was wrong, but then you heard the chiming of a small bell. You peaked over the couch to see Mio batting a small plastic ball back and forth. The source of the small dings came from a silver bell inside. It was kinda funny to see Mio so invested in a cat toy.

Every time the toy would make a particularly loud sound, Mio's tail would happily thump against the floor. Looking at the other cat toys you had put to the side, you smirked, wondering if Mio would react the same way with the other toys.

"I wonder" You mused almost inaudibly to yourself. With a sly smirk, you picked out the new laser pointer you'd bought Taiga a week prior.

With a smirk, you silently clicked the laser pointer on, shining the small light right by Mio's left hand. The wolf took a little to notice the small shine, but when she did you could see her eyes widen as she focussed in on the small light. Immediately the small ball was forgotten and pushed to the side and you stifled a laugh seeing Mio's tail swish back and forth in a surprisingly feline way.

You stifled your laughter as you flicked the light back and forth, chuckling at the way Mio would follow it with her eyes. Every now and then, you'd edge the dot closer to her, watching the way she'd tense up until she finally decided to try and catch it.

Mio was faster than you expected, forcing you to zip it around faster than with Taiga. You did this for a few minutes without anything going wrong, until Mio noticed what you were doing. All of a sudden she completely froze, hands clasped over where the laser pointed was last while she stared at you with wide eyes.

You gave her a cheeky smile, clicking the laser pointer off and chucking it to the side. Mio's ears were pressed against her head in embarrassment, and her tail was curled around her leg like it usually was. You felt a little guilty seeing her flushed face and awkward smile (which is what you usually looked like when she was embarrassed).

The room was deathly quiet (apart from the sounds Taiga made while she ate). Both you and Mio would sneak glances at each other and it suddenly felt like you were back in the time when you and Mio first started dating. That awkward, tense atmosphere that either of you would desperately try to fill.

Wordlessly, Mio moved next to you on the couch, her ears still laying flat on her head. With little hesitance, you reached up and gently thread your fingers through her hair, gently scratching around the base of her ears. You heard her tail thump gently against the couch cushion. You chuckled as Mio yawned, stretching her arms out in front of her as she slumped down on your lap, smiling softly.

You just rolled your eyes and wrapped your arms around her, wrapping the wolf in a tight hug. In return, Mio nuzzled your cheek affectionately.

"Am I forgiven?" You asked softly. You felt Mio grumble playfully next to your ear and you could practically feel the pout in her voice, however fake it was.

"Mmm, I suppose so... As long as I get more cuddles from you" Mio smiled into the crook of your neck, her tail thumping ever so slightly against your leg.
