Amelia's AU - Time loop

On the day you meet your soulmate, you are put into a time loop of the same day until you properly meet each other.

The last of the soulmate au series and another chapter closer to the 100 chap special. Enjoy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ticking away. Slowly, softly, the shorter hand of the clock ticked closer and closer towards the day. Two people destined to meet whether they liked it or not. Whether the loop coincided with their schedules, fate didn't give a flying fuck.
And with that though you slammed your poor alarm clock silent, almost sending it careening off your bedside table. It was too early, and you wondered why you even set your alarm clock considering it was Sunday, a day meant for doing nothing and then feeling bad about it before the whole week started again.
You started your plain ass morning routine, still grumpy from being so rudely awoken by your past self's idiocy. Eat breakfast, have a shower, get changed, brush you teeth, brush your hair and of course set some food out for the stray cats because otherwise they'd paw at your windows for hours.
Surprisingly, there was only one cat there this morning, a gruff looking dark ginger, white and black tortoiseshell cat you had affectionately nick-named Shepherd. Known for rounding stray dogs away from her territory, the she-cat had a few scars, but overall, was a lovable fluff ball.
So as you set out the food, you made a mental note to go out later to buy some more later seeing her scoff down the last of the wet food you had.
"Maybe I should go now? Get it over and done with before the morning rush" You mumbled to yourself, already slipping on your shoes and grabbing a shopping back so you could get a few more things.
It was chilly outside, and the streets were already growing crowded, which was annoying, but the shops were only a five minute walk away so you'd deal with it.
But then of course you had to see al the lovebirds. People holding hands as they walked a little too close for it to be platonic, young couples taking pictures together while sharing their hot chocolates (you snorted to yourself. Great move when you're in the middle of a pandemic). Perhaps deep down inside you were really jealous of people finding happiness when you struggled to do so.
It was safe to say your bad mood hadn't improved, so when someone rudely bumped into you, you didn't hesitate
"Ey buddy! Watch where the fuck you're going" Which was responded to with a bored sounding 'yeah, yeah' before the person walked away. Blonde, checkered overcoat accompanied by a pudgy terrier and two other girls. You just shook your eyes, continuing on your way.
Or at least you would if the goddamn blonde wouldn't leave your mind. You were just standing there, looking at the spot where your choice can of cat food was sold out, when you heard that same voice.
"Kinda rude, dontcha think Ame?" Which was met with a familiar 'yeah, yeah'. The first voice continued going on about what you assumed was your snarky remark earlier, but you were too tired to care properly.
"Oh, hey Ina, you're back! Find what you were looking for" The girl you assumed was called Ame suddenly spoke up. A much quieter voice responded, shyly confirming that she did in fact find what she was looking for. You just shook your head, once again letting their conversation fade into the background as you picked out a random can that was decently priced.
But you still heard the hushed whisper from one of the girls as you passed the aisle they were in, which just ticked you off.
So you paid for your items, went home and went back to sleep.
And so after waking from your nap, you went about your day normally, feeling no different than when you woke up this morning.
The first thing that was off that morning was not the alarm going off (you needed it to wake up on time for work) but the fact that the can of cat food you had ran out of the day before, was exactly in the same spot as yesterday, never looking like it had been moved in the first place. Which left you confused as you placed a paper plate with the wet food out on your small, cramped balcony for Shepherd to eat.
So you decided to go back to the shops, much like yesterday, as you had also found out you did not have any of the food you had bought yesterday, which made your already bad day even worse.
But then the same person bumped into you. Same place, same time, same girl, same pudgy terrier and same girls. Though this time you didn't yell at her and only cast a glance over your shoulder, catching her doing the same thing before you were both swept up in a sea of people.
And then you found yourself back in that same aisle, looking at all the same brands of cat food, listening to the same conversation, except the coat girl seemed a lot quieter than before.
and from there on, the days blended in together. It freaked you out, reliving the same day at least three more times till coat girl interrupted you, pulling you away from the cat food and simultaneously away from your thoughts.
"Listen, I need to talk to you" You didn't get a chance to respond before she pulled you away into a random corner of the shops. She looked around nervously before turning back to you.
"You. You've been living the same day over, right?" Her eyes were a sharp blue, a faint ring of pink around her iris. 'Odd' you distinctly remember thinking, odd, but beautiful.
"Yes? Are you trapped too? Do you know anything about what's going on-" Coat girl quickly shushed you, stepping a little too close into your personal bubble.
"Are you dense?" The answer to that was not something you would give out all too willingly to a stranger, so you responded with a blank stare.
"That old myth about soulmates. The time loop" She groaned, pulling frustratedly upon the hat on her hat. You swore she muttered something like 'I can't believe my soulmate is this dense.. Well, they can't be as bad as Gura' You just stood there, wracking your brain for any information about soulmates.
Your family was... less than excited about the whole concept. Apparently your mum lost her soulmate young and was forever scarred by it, to the point where she banned any mention of it in her home. Her restricting nature played a big part in you moving.
"I'm sorry.. My family, or at least my mum is one of those 'anit-soulmate' type people" Coat girl gave you an incredulous look and gently took your hand in hers. They were surprisingly rough, a few scrapes here and there.
"Well, there are many different ways your soulmate can be linked to you, some being more obvious than others. Of course as a time traveller I got stuck with one of the most annoying methods. Time loops" She started to explain, but you had already pieced together what she was trying to explain.
"So you're saying the day has been repeating until we meet properly?" Coat girl looked as if approximately 100 tonnes of stress was just lifted off her shoulders, grateful that she didn't have to go into her whole pre-planned spiel.
"So what does this mean for us now? I mean, we maybe be soulmates, but we're still strangers?" You turned to coat girl, her pudgy terrier now back by her side. She shot you a confident look and held out her hand for you to shake it.
"Amelia Watson, might I be able to meet you again at (favourite restaurant) at around, oh I don't know, 8pm Friday?" You paused, smiled and shook her hand.
"(Y/N) (L/N), and I would be more than happy to meet you again" Amelia smirked, pikcing up the small dog who waved a little paw at you as she left, returning to her friends. It was only at this point that you realised that Amelia had just asked you out on a date, which made your insides melt, turn to butterflies, fly around like they were high on asacoco before ultimately crashing when you realised you didn't get her number.
Or maybe you did, as you felt a small piece of paper scrunch in your hand. Unfurling it revealed Amelia's number, along with a few heart doodles.
You just clutched the paper to your chest like the hopeless romantic you were.
