Month 39

Trying to make a birthday late at night with two toddlers went just about as expected. Between trying to negotiate who got to do what and stop any fighting over who got to lick what when finished, Bakugou was nearly regretting his choice of getting his kids involved.

But when everything was set and he had laid the rules out, the kids looked ready to make their mother a cake. Bakugou opted for a simple boxed cake recipe, meaning he'd only have to add the wet ingredients, or rather his kids would have to.

Katsuko was given the pair of eggs, due only to her insistence that she could crack an egg unlike anyone else. That left Katsuro to pour in the water and vegetable oil, which he seemed fine with. Bakugou would stir it all together and then put it into the oven.

After that, the cake would bake and he'd try to get his kids to make you some birthday cards. But before he could focus on the mess that would come from coloring, he wanted to focus on the mess that would come with making this damn chocolate cake.

"Slowly now," Bakugou told Katsuro as he poured in the water.

His son nodded and slowly let the liquid drip in. To Bakugou's dismay, it seemed Katsuro took his instructions a little too cautiously, as it took him an entire minute to pour in a simple half cup of water.

"Hurry, Roro!" Katsuko muttered, her impatience showing.

Katsuro whined, feeling the pressure of both not trying to spill and also having his sister and father waiting on him. Finally, though, Katsuro finished pouring in the water and then turned to Katsuro.

She didn't wait for any permission and slammed one of her eggs onto the side of the bowl. The yolk and albumen landed into a slightly damp mixture with a plop, along with a few stray shards of the eggshell.

Katsuko looked on proudly, but Bakugou sighed. He reached in and gently started to take out the stray pieces and put them onto a napkin he had prepared in advance.

"Go easier next time." He lightly scolded his daughter. "We don't want a damn surprise crunch in the cake."

Katsuko huffed and crossed her arms. Bakugou rolled his eyes and motioned for Katsuro to pour the oil in now. He did so as slowly as last time, this time taking even more time since the oil was not a frictionless as the water had been.

"All done." He clapped his hands and then turned to his sister. "Be careful, Ko."

Katsuko waved her brother off and smiled widely. "No worries, Roro! I am the best at cracking eggs!"

Katsuko tossed the egg above her slightly, intending to throw the egg with one hand and catch it with her other. She had underestimated her throw, however, and it went a little higher than she expected.

Katsuko missed grabbing it on its way down and Bakugou held his breath. Looks like there was going to be a clean-up after all. Before he opened his mouth to scold Katsuko for being reckless, he noticed that he didn't hear a cracking sound.

"No break," Katsuro spoke, waving his hand upwards and the egg copied his movements.

He motioned towards Katsuko and the egg landed back into her hand. Katsuro smiled gently, glad to have saved the day and the egg. Meanwhile, his sister and father were staring at him with disbelief in their eyes.

"Roro!!" Katsuko called, a sparkle in her eyes. "You have a quirk! A quirk!"

Bakugou was speechless. That was most definitely your quirk. And his son had gotten one so early! Holy fucking shit!!
