Avinav's Pov:

I didn't even realise when time flew so fast. It feels as if I was engaged to her just yesterday. And see, now I'm sitting on the mandap waiting for my bride to come.

"Buddy, please concentrate on the puja; the priest is looking at you weirdly," Veeru whispered in my ears.

"I'm waiting for my bride. Not he. So, let him concentrate on his work while I concentrate on mine," I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"Desperate idiot," Veeru mumbled, while I just rolled my eyes.

I'll see how he will be at the time of his wedding. Oh God! How much time does she need to come here? Come fast, Bunny! Your Avi is waiting for you here.

Finally, as if listening to my prayers, she came and sat opposite to me. But I cannot see her because of the partition between us. I sighed and tried to take a glance of her. But my Amma hit my head and glared at me, making me pout. Actually, I'm not supposed to look at my bride until the Jeelakara Bellam ritual is completed. So, I have to wait until then.

Amidst the chanting of sacred mantras and "sannai melam" (the music of clarinet), Attayya and Mamayya placed Maya's hand in mine and gave away their daughter to me. As per Hinduism, 'Kanyadanam' is considered a highly noble act a father can perform. From this moment, her responsibility is mine.
