"Boo!" Steff says, getting up. "Boo! Shame on you guys. This is no fun. We are just sitting around. I wanna dance!"

"You're drunk. Don't get too close to the fire." Red says, taking a sip of her drink.

"You!" She points at me. "Let's dance. Let's be fire dancers!"

She twirls around and stumbles.

Liam is fast, getting up and catching her before she loses her balance.

"Liam? Let's go get more drinks. Let's get drunk." She says to him, forgetting all about dancing.

"You're already drunk." Liam says.

Steff doesn't hear him.

"Come on!" She tugs at his arm.

Liam looks at me helplessly as she drags him away.

I chuckle.

"Where's Ryan?" I ask Red.

It isn't like him to miss a party.

She shrugs.

"He is not picking up his phone."

Right on cue, my phone starts to buzz, and it is mom.

I get up and walk a little way away from the chatter.

"Sweetie!" She says as soon as I pick up. "How was it?"

"How do you think it was, mom?" I ask, failing to keep the annoyance out of my voice. "He was awful!"

She sighs.

"So not good then? Did he explain himself, at least?"

"Oh, he explained alright. But it made no sense to me. And he wants me to fly back for the wedding."

"I'm sorry. I wish you two would set aside your differences. I hate that you don't have a good relationship with your father."

I glance back when I hear a girl scream and giggle. She is being chased by a guy holding something on a stick. Probably a worm.

"Look, I can't talk about this now, mom. I gotta go."

I hang up and make my way towards my friends.

"There's a face I will not miss." I hear a familiar voice and roll my eyes.

"High school is over, Shannon. Grow up!"

Chastity gasps dramatically, a drink in her hand.

"Oooh, feisty, are we?"

I sigh. They are both so obviously drunk there is no point in getting mad.

"This is the last day of life as we know it. Can't you two focus on having fun with your friends and leave me to do the same?" I ask.
