I was marching to and fro in the study, thinking for the best possible way to stop Kusum's marriage and if possible end this child marriage thing forever, while Bondita sat there on the couch with a pot of roshogullas in her lap and gulping them one by one. I couldn't resist myself from laughing. At the same time it irked me a little as well because she had promised to help me in finding a solution for our new found case, for which she even demanded a bribe of eight pots of almond stuffed roshogullas. When I fulfilled her wish, she ended up enjoying the treat and totally forgot about the help that she had promised to offer me.

At times it seems funny to me that, I being a gold-medalist barrister, who is also ten years older than my wife, seek solutions to my problems from her. Well, I never believed that age and gender has any connection with intelligence and maturity. Sometimes the biggest lessons of life are thought by the smallest creatures in the existence. Then why can't I take help from my little wife? I don't have the male ego; neither do I wish to posses it anytime in my life. I am more than happy to be helped by my wife in spite of her young age and I sincerely believe that equality of both the partners is the fuel that keeps the cart of marriage going. That should be the main ingredient of a happy married life according to me. I always like to involve Bondita in everything that I do as that keeps me close to her. I truly feel great to share everything with her.

"This girl is a hell lot of distraction. What was I thinking about a few minutes back and what am I thinking now?", I thought looking at her.

Then again, I got mesmerized at her innocence and the way she cutely relished that favourite sweet of hers. They rightly say that children are equal to God. Wherever they may be, they energize the place with their purity and joyful nature. Many times I wonder how this girl is able to eat so much of sweet at a time. Isn't she bored to eat the same thing daily? No, never. She can never ever get bored of roshogullas and I will never get bored of adoring her.

I was snapped out of my world when she spoke unclearly with a roshogulla stuffed in her mouth, "Don't worry pati babu, I didn't forget my promise. I will come up with some idea but first let me finish these roshogullas. Otherwise, from where do you think I get good ideas and inspiration to think of a good solution?"

"How did she come to know about what is going on in my mind?", I thought.

"So you mean to say that roshogullas inspire you to think well?", I asked narrowing my eyes.

"Ha", she replied without giving it a second thought. I laughed at her immediate and frank answer.

"It's okay Bondita, finish off your roshogullas at peace. There is actually no need to stress your mind for all this. I have simply asked you to help me so that you may see some way which I might be failing to see. However, I will find some or the other way and as promised, I'll save your friend from this social evil. Trust me.", I tried to comfort her because I don't want her to trouble herself or take any unwanted stress in the process of helping me. I have already promised to myself that I will not give her even the slightest pain.

As I was lost in my thoughts, my eyes suddenly fell on a spider that was repeatedly trying to build a web on my book shelf in spite of falling down numerous times. I cautiously observed it for a few minutes. It wasn't giving up even after many failed attempts. That's all, I got my lesson. What if I failed in Devipur? I might succeed in Tulsipur. I gave up very easily without even trying out the different options that were available to solve the problem. It was at that moment I made up my mind to try every possible thing I can to protect Kusum from the impending danger that was about to destroy her life forever. I know that I might miserably fail before I could achieve success but still I won't give up.
