"Checkmate." Bruce said as Y/n dramatically hit her hand on the table causing him to let out a soft snicker at her action.

"Guess I should've know before playing against a genius." She said moving the pieces back into there spots on the board.

Y/n became bored throughout the day after Wanda woke her up, she didn't understand why she couldn't sleep in like a normal person but she never asked, she just silently gave Wanda attitude in her head but never dared to show it.

Wanda went off doing her own thing and so did Steve, she knew Natasha didn't like her much - or maybe it was all in her head - so she went to her other choice. Bruce.

She didn't have a problem with him, she actually liked Bruce, as nerdy as he seemed to come off as he was normal guy. She came to the conclusion that the people in the compound kind of walk on him a bit knowing that he's really caring person.

Whenever someone would get hurt on a mission she assumed that's really the only time they talked then went there separate way till they got hurt again.

So she decided to spend a little time with him just to know him better. She entered the lab and saw him working on trying to find a new element so she just tagged along as was someone for him to bounce her ideas off of.

After lunch they decided to take a break, Bruce pulled out different types of puzzles he had and their first choice was to play chess.

"You're not so bad yourself," he said with a smile as he moved his pawn forward two spaces. "How did you learn to play?"

Y/n scanned over the broad trying to decide what piece to move as she responded, "Believe it or not it was Tony." Bruce hummed in response or expecting that answer, "He of course explained it to me very quickly as if I was mentally at his level at the time but I caught on."

Bruce was about to add onto the conversation when the door suddenly opened exposing the sound of rain hitting the roof and the ground from outside as Wanda walked in sighing in relief knowing she made it in just in time.

She brought the extra pieces of hair from in front of her face to the back of her ear as she turned around stopping slightly when she saw Y/n.

"Hey, welcome." Bruce said waving to the redhead, Wanda waved back then turned her attention back on Y/n who gave her smile.

Wanda grabbed a chair that was next to the hospital bed in the room and started dragging it over. Y/n looked up from the board raising an eyebrow at Wanda waiting for the noise to stop but she continued to let the chair scrap across the floor.

She rose her hand rubbing her forehead closing her eyes, once Wanda made it to the side of the table they were playing on Y/n opened her eyes again and moved her knight.

The two went back and fourth while Wanda stayed silent until she said something, "Oh I see that you're doing." Y/n turned her head giving Wanda a look to be quiet but she didn't see it as she continued to look at the chess board. Bruce looked up at Y/n as Wanda continued to explain, "And then you could take his king." she finished explaining proudly looking up at Y/n to see if she was right.

Y/n couldn't get mad at Wanda but she was disappointed, she didn't want Wanda to feel bad so she turned her head back to bruce holding her hands out giving him a 'well' look.

"I'll be back." she said standing up from her seat and walking through the lab till she reached the side door to get into the hall.

"Did I do something?" Wanda asked genuinely confused,

Bruce sighed as he reset the chess pieces moving the board to the side, "She'll be okay, you just accidentally gave her plan out to me, she hasn't been able to beat me yet and if you never said anything I would've fell in her trap." He explained standing up from his seat pushing in the chair, "But you're still welcomed to stay, I know it's raining hard out there."
