Chapter 76

A scream wakes me up from my sleep. I look over and Noah is sitting up.

"Hey are you okay?"

"That wasn't me, I got up because I heard a scream."

"Fiona." I immediately said, We jumped out of bed and ran to her room. She's muttering in her sleep and sweating.

"Fiona.Fiona wakes up. It's just a dream." She sits up immediately.

"Where-Where am I?"

"Deep breaths, Fiona, deep breaths." Noah tells her.

"Listen to my voice, baby. Everything's alright. It was just a dream." I soothe her, rubbing her back.

"He's not here, is he?"

"Who is here, Fiona?" Noah asks her.

"My dad?"

"No, of course not!" I told her.

"He will never be able to get inside here. I've installed security cameras and guards outside the house, no one will be able to harm you guys."

"Do you promise?"

"I promise." She crawls to Noah and he holds her. He gives me a sad look. I run my fingers through Fiona's hair, and rub her back as she cries in his arms. All of us climb under her blankets, and Noah and I hold her from either side. Eventually her breathing evens out, indicating that she fell asleep. We crawl to the end of the bed, and let her have her space.

"Should we stay here the rest of the night?" Noah asks me.

"Yeah, let's make a bed on the floor. If she needs anything, we'll be right here." Both of us set up blankets on the floor and lie down. He holds me close to him.

"Noah?"

"Yes, love?"

"I love you. "

"I love you too."

We woke up to her alarm at 6 am.

"Ughhh shut it off." Noah groans.

"It's not my dumbhead." I yawn and stretch.

"Mom? D-Noah? What are you doing in my room?"

"You had a nightmare, so we stayed here on the floor last night after you fell asleep."

"Oh. Umm, thank you." I gesture for her to come down on the floor, and let her slide into the blanket next to me.

"Of course, nanna, we're here for you." I run my fingers through her hair.

"What's a nanna?"

"Oh, um, it's a term of endearment in Telegu."

"Cool! Can you speak any other languages?"

"English, Spanish, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Japanese."

"Wow."

"I know, right?" Noah comments, his voice low and gruff in the morning. He kisses my cheek.

"Morning, love."

"Morning Noah."

"Get a room." Fiona groans.

"Hey, we didn't even do anything!" I protest.

"You're too lovey dovey at seven AM."

"Well, we wouldn't be awake if it wasn't for your alarm." Noah groans into my shoulder.

"Hmph. Fair point though." Fiona says.

"I know." Noah retorts.

"Don't be so cocky." I smack his head.

"But I do know."

"No you don't." Fiona and I speak together.

"You're just jealous."

"Of what? There's nothing to be jealous of." Noah smacks Fiona's arm lightly, his face now in my neck.

"I think you're jealous, Noah." Fiona smirks.

"No I'm not."

"Yes you are."

"No I'm not."

"You wish you could match my awesomeness." He scoffs.

"What awesomeness?" His breath tickles my neck.

"The one that you don't have." Fiona retorts.

"You suck." Noah says.

"That's what she said." I cough on my own saliva, and Noah starts snickering.

"Umm, what?" I ask her after recovering from her joke.

"I said what I said."

"..."

Silence. And then sporadic bursts of laughter. My phone dings.

"Shit, I completely forgot. Hey, Fiona, I have a high school reunion thing this evening, I have to go. If you're okay with it, I'll go, and I can drop you off at Lily's house, but I'll stay here if you want me -"

"Go and enjoy mom. You too Noah. Be my eyes when I'm not there." She gives him a look.

"Aye, Aye captain." She grins.

"I'll call Lily's mom. Do you wanna spend the night there too? Or should I bring you back home?" I say, whipping out my phone to text her.

"Can I have a sleepover?"

"Sure!" I message Lily's mom, and she immediately replies, agreeing to have Fiona over.

"Guys, it's 10 AM. Wanna get out of bed?"

"Yes."

"Oh,Fiona, Lily's going to be here in about an hour, so get ready, okay? As soon as she picks you up, we're going to head out."

"Okay!" She excitedly says, and we all get up, packing up the floor bed.

I Walk into our bathroom and brush my teeth alongside Noah. I was about to exit the bedroom, when he pulled me back and pressed me against the wall.

"Noah," I say, raising my eyebrows.

"Yes, my love?"

"I'm going to go eat."

"But I have my breakfast." He pouts. I kiss him lightly, but he deepens it, slipping his hands under my sweatshirt.

"Not now, Noah." I say against his lips.

"Whyy?" He pouts again.

"Stop being cute and making me want to kiss you." I scolded him.

"I can't help it." He runs a hand through his hair. Goddammit.

"Stop it." I glare at him.

"Stop what?" He asks innocently.

"You know what."

"Please, explain for me, love," his nose brushes mine, his lips an inch away-

"Mo- ohmygod, I'm so sorry, I'm leaving." Fiona runs away. I push him off me.

"That is exactly why I said later, you idiot." My face is pink. So is his.

"Now, I'm going to eat some food. You make a joke about that, I'm not kissing you all day."
"How can I not?"

"Think about what I said." I sing, and he groans, following me out the door.
