Chapter 82

Fiona is getting ready for the dance. My phone is fully charged up, and I'm ready to take pictures.

"Love?"

"Yeah, Noah?"

"Can you do my tie?" I smile and start tying it.

"You're perfectly capable of tying your own tie, you know that?"

"Yes, I just wanted to have you close to me." I smile and blush.

"There, all done." He kisses me.

"You look very handsome." I look up into his eyes, my hands resting on his chest.

"And you look beautiful."

"Are you serious? I'm wearing my pajamas, and my hair is not even brushed."

"Exactly." He kisses me again. Butterflies flutter around in my stomach.

"Mom! I'm out of the bathroom, can you do my hair and makeup please?"

"Duty calls." I smile at him, and he presses a kiss to my knuckles.

"Fiona, you look so beautiful!" I gush the minute I see her, and I feel tears coming into my eyes.

"You like it?" She says, giving the dress a little twirl, and putting on a necklace.

"Actually, don't wear that necklace. I have one for you." I rush into my room, getting a sapphire necklace my mom gave to me, and clip it around her neck.

"Do you like it?"

"Do I like it? I love it!"

"My mom gave that to me when I was your age. It can be yours now if you want."

"Really? Thanks mom! I'm never taking it off." She gives me a hug.
"I'm glad you like it. Now, Let's get you ready."

I push her into her room, and sit her down at the dresser. I start blow drying her hair.

"So, Fiona, anyone you like?" I wiggle my eyebrows.

"I have friends." She gives me a cheeky smile.

"You know what I mean."

"No mom! Not yet, at least. I'm going into high school next year. I probably won't end up getting one."

"Fiona, you'll find someone eventually. You're going to be a freshman soon. You still have time. I promise."

"Yeah, but it won't ever be like you and dad."

"What do you mean?" I'm confused.

"I don't know, you and dad, you, you guys just seem right for each other. Dad loves you a lot, and I can tell you love him too. Even a blind person could see that. Where do you find something like that? Definitely not with high school boys."

"Hey, you still have your whole life ahead of you. You're fourteen. I only met Noah last year. It's almost April now. I was exactly that same way when I was younger. I waited my whole life, and look at me, I'm twenty seven now, and I've found someone. It doesn't matter what age you meet them, what matters is how they treat you, with respect, care and love. It doesn't all need to happen at once."

"Most kids in my grade are dating already though."

"Doesn't mean that you have to. You can take your time. There's no rush. You're going into high school now. Not to say that you can't find someone, but it's the time to focus on yourself and your grades. You need to get into a good college, to get a good job. Focus on yourself. You have all the time in the world."
