"Wh- what?" Izuku said so broken that Katsuki’s full attention was on him

This. This was Izuku's absolute nightmare. Every time he stutters, every time he does something, every time he spends time with his mother or is seen with her, he gets really insecure. How so? Because he feels like a mistake, nothing less, but might be something more, he doesn't completely know.

He has always doubted that his mom really wanted him, he doesn't deserve this life, doesn't he? He's such a disappointment, not just to her, but to everyone. He had hoped that that wasn't the case with his mother.

She has always showed him support. When no one was there for him, she was there. No matter how much people looked down on him, she has always told him otherwise. Every time Izuku would see her by herself, he'd always hope the she's not bored or tired of him.

He hoped that even if she did feel tired, there was still an ounce left of her love that she was willing to hold onto for him. Hoping that it was enough reason for him to continue on living by her side, but it seems like he was wrong all along.

On Inko's side, she didn't mean it, at all. Those words were just because of the spur of the moment and the overwhelming feeling she felt. Undeniably, she'll always say that she loves Izuku unconditionally. Nothing could change how much love she has for her son, even when people told her she’s wrong, she continued to stand up for him.

When her and her ex-husband got divorced, she kept Izuku. Everything else can go, just not Izuku because he was her everything. Whenever she remembers what her ex-boyfriend did to him, she'll always blame herself. Today was just really a bad day for her. She had a hangover that was was taking it’s tole on her body, her head felt like it was splitting, and her back hurt due to the other activities she did.

At this moment, she was wrong, and she knows it. She knows she shouldn't have said that to Izuku no matter how tired she felt, she can't always blame it on that. Inko was Izuku's everything and they have always depended on each other. However now, she completely messed up.

Katsuki was more than pissed when he heard what Inko say that. He couldn't believe nor understand her, how can she have the nerve to say something like that to her own son who did nothing else, but to solely depend on her thinking she'd protect him at all cost and that he could trust her?

When he was about to intervene and defend Izuku, when he took a good look at Inko. He saw how guilty she felt through her regret filled tears that rolled down her cheeks. She probably didn't mean it, it was impossible, he believed what she said before.

Katsuki looked over at Izuku who was aggressively wiping his tears off of his face despite it continuously running down his face. He, Katsuki Bakugou, did the unthinkable and pulled Izuku into a warm hug as he cradled the back of the smaller’s head.

"Oh no, Izuku! Please... I didn't mean it at all, honey. My hangover is killing me, that's all I promise. Please stop crying baby, I hate seeing you cry… Forgive me, please?" Inko finally said through sniffles

"Of course I'm not tired of you, you're my everything and my first priority! You know that, right? I just..." She added, looking down and sighing, obviously blaming herself for all of this

The man Inko was with walked up to Katsuki and Izuku. Izuku buried himself further into Katsuki who turned them around to shield the smaller as the stranger got closer.

"Young Midoriya… I am really sorry you had to find out this way... I hoped we could have a decent introduction." The frail man said, rubbing the back of his neck

"Um, my name is Toshinori Yagi. Nice to meet you, I have heard a lot about you from your mother and I honestly anticipated our first meet up." The guy, who was named Toshinori, added with an awkward laugh

Izuku slightly felt weird around Toshinori but he peek over Katsuki’s shoulder to look at the tall man. It was a given that he wasn't completely comfortable around him, but seeing him now and knowing his name kind of reassured him, kind of fatherly like, but still not enough to say anything.

The teen good a deep breath and separated from Katsuki, but held the hem of the blondes shirt
"U- um... ni- nice to meet- meet yo- you, I g- guess... I’m so- sorry, b- but I ne- need so- some ti- time..." He quietly muttered

He didn’t meet Toshinori's or Inko's eyes as he let go of Katsuki’s shirt and walked out of his house. Maybe some fresh air can clear up his mind.

Katsuki was left with the adults, contemplating whether to go berserk and tell the two off or just quietly walk off to find Izuku and comfort him. After thinking for a bit, he settled with giving a really disappointed glare to the two.

"Auntie… I don’t know anything about your family shit, but that was clearly unacceptable." He said

"You made your son worry all night because you didn’t let him know what the hell was going on and the door was locked. Seeing him worry so much made my family worry too, but where the hell were you? With him." Katsuki crossed his arms, glancing towards Toshinori

“You could’ve at least sent a text letting Izuku know.” The blonde said as he turned to open the door

Katsuki was about to walk out when he turned back to Inko.
"Oh right, and the reason why we were all calling you is that your son's bully is moved to his new school and threatened him. We wanted to inform you about it first, but we couldn't contact you because apparently you're too busy. We were worried that the bastard might be up to something and I'm sure Izuku was thinking the same shit." He stated before quietly walking off and out the door, just like the green haired teen

Izuku was outside, sitting under a tree that was between the Midoriya’s yard and the neighbor’s yard. He plucking random grass for some reason almost irritatedly. Nonetheless, the blonde walked towards him and sat down near the boy, letting the not awkward silence surround them.

"Deku, you alright?" He said after some time

"I do- don't ev- even kn- know Kacchan..." Izuku muttered, looking at the ground

Katsuki sighed and turned to face Izuku, only to find him, silent tears running down his face.
"Hey, don't cry. I don’t think she meant what she said. Pretty sure it was just the heat of the moment on top of her hangover. I ain’t making excuses for her though. I hate she just ignored you." Katsuki stated, gritting his teeth before sighing

"I know it ain’t my place to say this, but you can't blame your mother for wanting to date again, right? I didn't know shit about her and her ex boyfriend and I feel fucking sorry for what had happened, I wish I was there to protect you from it." He added as he carefully put a hand on Izuku's back, caressing it

“Th- thanks Kacchan.” Izuku leaned into the touch

Katsuki nodded.
"…I think you should give ‘em a chance, Deku. This guy night not be so bad. Maybe it’s not as bad as you think or maybe that’s just me, what do you think?" He asked

"Li- like I sa- said ear- earlier Kat- Katsuki, I d- d- don't know w- what to f- f- feel. I al- alwa- always ha- hated it wh- when m- mom sa- said so- some- something a- a- about boy- boyfrien- boyfriends o- or par- partners." Izuku replied, quiet hiccups escaping his mouth

"I a- am not an- angry th- that she de- decided  t- to da- date so- some ran- random g- guy I ne- never m- met, I a- am dis- disapp- disappointed th- that she cou- couldn't ke- keep her p- promise. I never as- asked her t- to promise m-me." The greenette added as he sniffled

"She w-was the o- one who d- did a- and I ex-expec-expected h- her to ke- keep it, s- seems li- like s- she di- didn't wa- want t- to d- do so.  I’m okay th- though…. be- because you- you’re right! I f- feel li- like I sh- should gi- give h- him a cha- chance." He said, although a bit hesitant, he was sure about what he said

Katsuki nodded.
"Yeah, that's probably for the best." He ruffled Izuku’s hair

The blonde ended up taking Izuku to school after he got dressed and thankfully the greenette didn’t miss his first class. The day went okay because apparently his bully didn’t come to school that day. Maybe the universe was on his side for once. With all that happened earlier that morning it was honestly a breath of fresh air. After school he stayed the night at Mirio after telling his mom and Katsuki where he would be.
